Citroen Basalt Base-Spec 'You' Variant: All Details Here
The Citroen Basalt has been introduced to the Indian market with a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The French automaker offers this SUV coupe in three variants: You, Plus, and Max. If you're considering the base-spec 'You' variant, here's a detailed look at its exterior and interior features.
The base-spec variant of the SUV coupe is available in two colour options: Steel Grey and Polar White. Up front, it features a chrome-finished grille with Citroen's double chevron logo. Unlike higher variants, the 'You' variant comes with halogen headlights and lacks fog lamps. The blacked-out bumper includes slim vertical red inserts.

Exterior Features
On the side, the coupe roofline remains a distinctive feature of the Basalt. The base variant is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels without covers and black door handles. Turn indicators are placed on the front fender instead of the ORVMs seen on top-spec variants. The side profile also lacks black cladding but retains the extended C-pillar with a red insert.
At the rear, the overall design stays consistent with other variants, but the base model features a blacked-out bumper. This variant does not include fog lamps or alloy wheels, which are present in higher trims.

Interior Features
Inside, the dashboard sports a dual-tone design in black and grey upholstery with teal blue trim inserts. However, it misses out on an infotainment system and automatic AC. Instead, it comes with manual AC controls and a semi-digital driver's display without steering-mounted controls.
The cabin includes fixed rear headrests for all three passengers but lacks a rear centre armrest. Safety features include six airbags and rear parking sensors as standard.

Engine Specifications
The 'You' variant is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine produces 82 PS and 115 Nm of torque. Higher-spec variants offer an option for automatic transmission coupled with a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 110 PS and up to 205 Nm of torque.
The Citroen Basalt starts from Rs 7.99 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India). While official pricing for the top-spec variant hasn't been disclosed yet, it was listed at Rs 13.57 lakh on Citroen's official configurator.

Market Positioning
The Basalt competes against upcoming models like Tata Curvv and serves as an attractive alternative to compact SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate.
