Citroen Aircross Launched: New Affordable 1.2L Engine And Features
Citroen has introduced a new powertrain for the Aircross, previously known as the C3 Aircross. This update makes it the most affordable option among compact SUVs. The addition of a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission has significantly reduced its price. This strategic move follows Citroen's recent launch of the Basalt SUV and updates to other C-Cubed vehicles.
Pricing and Features
The Aircross now starts at Rs 8.49 lakh (Ex-showroom) for the 5-seater model, making it approximately Rs 1.5 lakh cheaper than before. This price is for a limited time and may change at Citroen's discretion. The vehicle also offers an optional 5+2 seating arrangement. The trim levels available are You, Plus, and Max, with turbo petrol variants starting at Rs 11.95 lakh (Ex-showroom).

In terms of features, the Aircross boasts several improvements over its predecessor. It now includes LED headlights within projectors and electrically foldable ORVMs with integrated side turn indicators. Inside, automatic climate control and floor-mounted AC vents have been added. A front armrest is also included, and window switches have been repositioned to door pads.
Powertrain Options
The introduction of the 1.2L NA Petrol engine fills a gap that existed in the C3 Aircross lineup. The existing 1.2L Turbo Petrol engine continues to be available with both 6-speed manual and torque converter gearbox options. Notably, upgrading to a 6-speed torque converter costs Rs 1.3 lakh (Ex-showroom), while this upgrade in the C3 hatchback costs Rs 85,000.

Safety features in the Citroen Aircross include six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
Market Strategy
Citroen's recent changes reflect a shift in strategy aimed at boosting sales after a period of decline. By breaking from traditional naming conventions and adopting aggressive pricing strategies with models like Basalt, Citroen aims to capture more market share.

Shishir Mishra, Brand Head of Citroën India, stated: "The Aircross SUV has been loved for its ride quality and comfort by customers since its launch. We wanted to build on that success by establishing its unique identity and hence we are excited to launch the new Aircross."
These updates position the Citroen Aircross as an attractive option for buyers seeking advanced comfort, safety features, and modern technology in a practical package.
