Chevrolet Triumphs With Third Consecutive INDYCAR Manufacturer Championship In 2024
Chevrolet has clinched the NTT INDYCAR Series Manufacturer Championship for the third year in a row. The competition involves two engine suppliers vying for points awarded to top-finishing cars throughout the season. Chevrolet's 2.2L V6 engine has proven its mettle, securing nine championships since 2012.
The Chevrolet 2.2L V6 twin-turbocharged engine has been a cornerstone of success in INDYCAR. Over 13 seasons, it has powered drivers to 122 wins out of 215 races, achieving a win rate of 56.7%. Notably, six of these victories were at the Indianapolis 500.

Mark Reuss, GM President, expressed pride in this achievement: "This is a proud moment for everyone at Chevrolet. The effort by GM Motorsports competition engineering and Propulsion engineers and Ilmor to deliver power and reliability in the Chevy 2.2L V6 INDYCAR engine has been outstanding."
All full-time Chevrolet teams played crucial roles in this championship win. Team Penske, Arrow McLaren, Ed Carpenter Racing, AJ Foyt Racing, and Juncos Hollinger Racing all contributed significantly. Their drivers included Will Power, Josef Newgarden, Scott McLaughlin, Pato O’Ward, Alexander Rossi, and others.
Despite having fewer cars on the grid compared to competitors, Chevy-powered teams maximised their resources effectively. They utilised engineering tools and simulator time to enhance performance consistency and achieve strong results.
