Chennai Formula 4 Night Race Results - A Night That Shone Bright For Indian Motorsports

As dusk fell on the streets of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu switched on the lights on its street circuit on the Island Gardens. The final three races would be raced under the lights, a spectacle that had not been seen in India before.

Like in the afternoon, the first out of the blocks were the JK Formula LGB 4 racers. In the qualifying session earlier in the afternoon, S. Sankaran had claimed pole position for the second race of the night which would see the drivers circulate round for 10 laps of the circuit. Avalance Racings Lala and Toppo made up the top three as the lights went out and the racing started.

However, when the flag fell after a hard-fought race that saw two safety car periods, it was Bangalore's Tijil Rao (Dark Don Racing) who had finished third in race one who claimed the race win by going past the chequered flag in a time of 27:03.653. He was followed across the line by Race 1 winner Diljit TS. Diljit had led for most of the race but eventually fell to a persistent Rao, finishing 0.311 seconds behind his teammate.

The final podium spot was claimed by Neythan McPherson, who finished second in Race 1. McPherson, like in the first race, was the fastest rookie in the race, finishing just 0.749 behind Rao.

However, it was South Africa's Aqil Alibhai (Blackbirds Hyderabad) who stood on the top step of the podium as he weaved past Pariat and Nandan to finish the race in 30:03.445. Divy Nandan claimed second place while Jaden Pariat rounded off the podium.
