Chennai Formula 4 Night Race: Race 1 Results
After a scorching day of practice and qualifying, it was finally time for the first set of races from the first-ever F4 night race in India. The first of the three races saw the JK FLGB F4 racers set off onto the 19-corner, 3.75km long for a 6-lap attack on the Island Gardens course.
The JK Formula LGB 4 race saw Neythan McPherson of Momentum Motorsports start on Pole with Dark Don Racing's T.S. Diljith in second and N. Datta of MSport in third. The Formula LGB cars (powered by a 1.3-litre Swift engine) and their drivers put on a proper show in an action-packed race, which saw the safety car deployed by the end of the first lap.

Dark Don Racing's T.S. Diljith emerged victorious at 13:52.137, pipping polesitter McPherson to the top step of the podium by just 0.442 seconds. Rounding off the podium in the Formula LGB 4 Race was another Dark Don Racing driver Tijil Rao.
Next up on the track for a race were the Formula 4 India racers in their Mygale F4 Gen 2 cars powered by an Alpine 1.3-litre turbocharged engine prepared by Oreca. The qualifying session had seen Aussie Hugh Barter of Godspeed Kochi claim pole position with Ruhaan Alva of the Bengal Tigers Team in second and South African Aqil Alibhai from Black Birds Hyderabad in third place.

The race saw more of the same from Australia's Barter as the Godspeed Kochi racer blasted his way across the road course in Chennai to win the 10-lap race (which ended due to a red flag) with a time of 19:42.952. Barter ended the race 7.299 seconds ahead of Alva with Abhay Mohan of Bangalore Speedsters claiming the final podium spot, ending up just over 26 seconds behind the Aussie winner.
Finally, it was time for the Indian Racing League machines - Wolf Thunder GB08 with an Aprilia RSV4 1.0 engines that are shared by a pair of drivers - to hit the track. The qualifying session for the IRL Race 1 (Driver A), saw the Goa Aces team's Jilkova and Hyman claim the first two spots with Chennai TurboRiders Lancaster taking the third spot.
However, the race was red-flagged and shortened from the original running after the most Indian of things happened when a dog decided to go frolicking on the track. However, the shortened race, saw all the drivers go pedal to the metal with Goa Aces driver Raoul Hyman pipping teammate and rival Gabriela Jilkova to take the race win. Bengal Tigers racer Alister Yoong from Malaysia took the final podium spot.
