Chance Hymas Scheduled For Knee Surgery, Missing Motocross Of Nations Event
Chance Hymas is set to undergo knee surgery on September 24 in Nashville, Tennessee. This procedure will prevent him from participating in the Motocross of Nations. The decision was made after he reinjured his ACL during training before the 2024 season. Despite this setback, Hymas has performed well this year, achieving his first overall victory and multiple podium finishes in the AMA Pro Motocross series.
Hymas aggravated his knee injury during the opening round of SuperMotocross in Charlotte on September 7. Initially, he aimed to compete for Team USA at the Motocross of Nations on October 6 in England. However, after consulting with his team, they decided surgery was necessary to avoid further complications. This decision prioritises his long-term health and performance.

Star Yamaha and Cooper Webb have stepped up to fill Hymas's spot for the event. Webb will switch from his usual 450 to a 250 for this occasion. Meanwhile, Hymas is focusing on recovering and preparing for the 2025 AMA Supercross 250 East series. He expressed gratitude towards Webb for taking over his position.
"I'm absolutely gutted," Hymas stated. "I have waited for the opportunity to represent my country at MXoN since I was a kid. I was proud and excited to wear the Red, White and Blue." He emphasised that fixing his knee is crucial for future competitions and thanked Webb for stepping in.
Lars Lindstrom, Manager of Honda HRC Progressive, expressed disappointment over Hymas's situation but acknowledged the necessity of surgery. "We're really, really gutted for Chance," Lindstrom said. He praised Hymas's competitive spirit and speed when healthy and appreciated Star Yamaha and Webb's support for Team USA.
The focus now shifts to ensuring a smooth operation and recovery for Hymas so he can return stronger in 2025. The team remains optimistic about his future prospects once he regains full health.
