Championship-Winning Pedigree Comes To The Road With The Latest TAG Model By Lanzante
British automotive engineering specialists Lanzante are set to unveil a remarkable tribute to Formula 1 performance on the road. The TAG Championship by Lanzante is a collection of three lightweight models that combine the iconic Porsche 930 Turbo body shape with a powerful motorsport engine. These exclusive cars will be showcased for the first time at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed.The TAG Championship models pay homage to McLaren's three consecutive titles during the dominant 1980s era. Each car will be named after a specific driver and year. This collection is an enhancement of the TAG Turbo by Lanzante, which was previously displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The original car, built by McLaren, featured a Porsche 911 body and a TAG-branded, Porsche-built, V6 twin turbo Formula 1 engine.The TAG Championship by Lanzante celebrates the incredible power and performance of Formula 1's golden era while incorporating state-of-the-art motorsport technology. Carbon fiber is extensively used to reduce weight, resulting in the TAG Championship weighing just 920kg – an impressive 430kg lighter than the original 930 Turbo donor car.What sets these models apart is their genuine Formula 1 engines. Each car is equipped with a race-used example of the TAG TTE P01 1.5-litre V6 twin turbo engine, which propelled McLaren to three consecutive world titles with drivers Niki Lauda and Alain Prost. These engines have been reengineered and built by Cosworth, with all works certified by McLaren. Upgrades include new pistons, conrods, valves and valve springs, revised cams, a new airbox, new cooling, a new exhaust system, and lightweight titanium turbos.The power unit in the Championship '85 model revs up to an impressive 10,250rpm and delivers increased power of 625hp, enabling a top speed of 200mph. Power is transmitted to the road through a custom Porsche 993 six-speed gearbox with bespoke ratios. Despite these enhancements, the TAG Championship remains fully road legal and runs on regular fuel.The Championship model features subtle details inspired by the Formula 1 cars it pays tribute to. The interior and exterior showcase motorsport-borne technology, with body panels, bonnet, doors, front wings, front splitter, roof, bumpers, and rear wing all made from lightweight carbon fiber. The brakes have been upgraded to a bespoke full carbon ceramic system, and a new Formula 1 wiring loom and ECU from Cosworth have been installed.The attention to detail extends to the finish of the bodywork. The paintwork is meticulously matched to Alain Prost's 1985 helmet design, and exposed carbon is used for the large 1980s-style bumpers. The car sits on larger versions of the original racecar's black wheels, built by Dymag. These 18-inch magnesium and carbon rims are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.Inside, the stripped-out interior features lightweight Recaro seats with carbon backing and BOSS-branded black and white six-point harnesses. A Personal-branded suede steering wheel with white stitching adds a touch of elegance.The TAG Championship by Lanzante specification includes a TAG TTE P01 1.5-litre V6 twin turbo engine, Porsche 993 six-speed gearbox with bespoke ratios, Cosworth ECU, Raychem Formula 1 wiring loom, Porsche 930 Turbo chassis with bespoke rollcage, Porsche 930 Turbo braking system with carbon ceramic discs, Dymag magnesium and carbon rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, an 80-liter motorsport bag tank, new lighting throughout including LED headlamps with integrated indicators, and a weight of 920kg (excluding fuel and driver).Motorsport enthusiasts and Formula 1 fans will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the TAG Championship by Lanzante at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday, July 11.
