Team USA's Caeleb Dressel Secures Eighth Gold Medal In Paris Olympics Relay

Caeleb Dressel, aged 27, secured his eighth career gold medal at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. He anchored the U.S. men's 4x100m freestyle relay team to victory with a time of 3:09.28 on Saturday. This win marks his third consecutive medal in this event.

Dressel expressed his joy after the win, saying, "My son getting to watch me win a gold medal is everything." He added, "I just wanted to get a gold medal for these guys. I’ve had my moments in the sport, it’s time for these guys to have their fun."

This achievement adds to Dressel's impressive record in his third Olympic appearance. He came to Paris aiming to defend his two individual gold medals from Tokyo 2020 after excelling at the U.S. Swimming Trials in the 50m free and 100m butterfly.

Dressel is among the most decorated U.S. swimmers, now boasting eight gold medals. His previous wins include five from Tokyo 2020 (50m free, 100m fly, 100m free, 4x100m medley relay, and 4x100m free relay) and two from Rio 2016 (4x100m medley relay and 4x100m free relay).

He will have more chances to add to his medal tally later this week. After Tokyo, Dressel also won two world championships in 2022 in the 50m fly and 4x100m medley relay.
