Cadillac Unveils SOLLEI Concept: Redefining Bespoke Luxury In Electric Convertibles
Cadillac has unveiled the SOLLEI concept vehicle, a luxury electric convertible that epitomises custom vehicle design. This innovative model showcases Cadillac's vision for future bespoke commissions, reflecting the unique passions and interests of its clientele. The SOLLEI is an all-electric 2+2 convertible featuring a 55-inch screen, sophisticated interior, and exterior lighting choreography.
The SOLLEI concept integrates advanced personalisation features, including ambient lighting with 126 colour options in multiple zones. This allows users to create specific moods within the vehicle. Additionally, it caters to bird-watching enthusiasts with custom accessories like a leather-wrapped case housing 3D printed bird calls and a journal with hand-painted bird illustrations.
Cadillac's design philosophy is evident in the SOLLEI’s interior, which aims to elevate the travel experience. It includes a beverage chiller with crystal glasses and illuminated décor that enhances the brand's aesthetic appeal. The use of unstained wood veneers honours natural variations in colour and grain patterns, adding to the vehicle's luxurious feel.
The exterior of the SOLLEI is designed to evoke emotion with its bold proportions and clean body style. The low, elongated body features a wide stance and long coupe door for easy rear access. Uninterrupted surfaces and a stretched A-line emphasise the vehicle’s length, while a low tail design adds dynamic elegance.
The mid-body line seamlessly connects the headlamp to the taillight, creating a harmonious design. Traditional door handles are replaced with discrete buttons to maintain a clean profile line. The exterior is finished in "Manila Cream," a colour originally used on Cadillacs in 1957 and 1958, meticulously hand-painted by Cadillac craftsmen.
Artistic Interior Features
The SOLLEI’s interior embodies Cadillac’s "art of travel" philosophy, transforming ordinary travel into an extraordinary experience. Features include marquetry techniques for hand-cut and hand-laid wood veneers that draw attention from front doors to the console and rear compartment. The windshield is framed in milled brushed aluminium, continuing Cadillac’s use of natural materials.
Cadillac has collaborated with MycoWorks to incorporate Fine Mycelium™, an innovative bio-based material made from mycelium, into the SOLLEI concept. This material is used in charging mats on the console and door map pockets, reflecting Cadillac’s commitment to pioneering renewable automotive resources.
Celestial and Optimistic Design
The SOLLEI celebrates travel optimism with rich sensory engagement and unexpected discoveries. Sun-themed features are prominent in its design: sunburst-themed lighting, seat pattern embroidery, and pink iridescent Nappa leather creating a sunrise effect. Charging mats and custom accessories feature MycoWorks’ Fine Mycelium™ technology in an iridescent finish.
The convertible roof fabric named "Daybreak" allows sunlight to pour over the interior when retracted. Textured floormat material called "Bask" matches the roof material's colour, adding warmth and texture to the interior. These elements contribute to an overall light and airy feel inside the vehicle.
The SOLLEI concept was officially unveiled at Cadillac House at Vanderbilt within GM’s Global Technical Center campus in Warren, Michigan. This state-of-the-art facility provides a bespoke design experience for Cadillac CELESTIQ clients, continuing Cadillac's tradition of offering modern design inspired by iconic models from its past.
