Cadillac Racing Set To Expand To Three-Car GTP Lineup In 2025 Season

Cadillac Racing has announced an expansion of its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship program, adding a third Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) factory car for the 2025 season. Wayne Taylor Racing will rejoin Cadillac alongside reigning IMSA GTP champion Action Express Racing. Both teams will run three Cadillac V-Series.R race cars powered by the Cadillac 5.5L DOHC V8 engine. Driver line-ups will be revealed later.

Wayne Taylor Racing, which last raced for Cadillac in the 2020 IMSA season, will operate two Cadillac V-Series.Rs in 2025. Team principal Wayne Taylor expressed his excitement about reuniting with Cadillac, saying, "I am so glad to return to the Cadillac family. Having teamed with GM for so many years, with so many wins and championships, and having enjoyed such a fantastic relationship with them, this global program we have put together could not be more thrilling." The team previously won multiple titles with Cadillac from 2017 to 2020.

Cadillac Boosts GTP Lineup in 2025

Action Express Racing will continue its alliance with GM, racing as Cadillac Whelen in 2025 and maintaining their No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R in IMSA’s premier class. The team has been associated with GM since 2012 and has achieved significant success, including the 2023 GTP team/driver championship and IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup team/driver championship. Team manager Gary Nelson stated, "All of us at Action Express Racing are thrilled that Cadillac has chosen us again to represent their iconic brand."

GM President Mark Reuss highlighted the expertise brought by both teams: "Wayne Taylor Racing and Action Express Racing bring decades of proven racing and technical expertise, and we look forward to continued success on the track."

Cadillac's Rich Motorsport History

Cadillac Racing has a storied history in motorsports, earning nine Manufacturer Championships since 2005 and five IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup Manufacturer Championships. They have secured a total of 69 sports car victories, including 30 in IMSA prototype competition since 2017. The latest generation of their prototype race car, the Cadillac V-Series.R, features an electric motor component and incorporates design elements from Cadillac V-Series production cars.

The collaboration between Wayne Taylor Racing and Andretti Global enhances their competitive edge in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the North America Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. Based in Indianapolis, Wayne Taylor Racing combines resources from two championship-caliber teams.

Action Express Racing's Achievements

Founded in 2010 and based in Denver, N.C., Action Express Racing boasts an impressive record in IMSA competition. They have claimed multiple championships over the years, including six IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Team and Driver championships and seven North American Endurance Championships titles.

The return of Wayne Taylor Racing to Cadillac marks a significant development for both teams involved. With their combined experience and past successes, they aim to achieve new milestones in the upcoming seasons.
