BYD SEAL Range And Company Win Prestigious Awards At Best Car Of The Year
BYD, the largest New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer globally, has achieved significant recognition at the 2024 Best Cars of the Year Awards. The BYD SEAL and the soon-to-be-released SEAL U DM-i were awarded the ‘Best Car Line-Up of the Year’ for their design, sustainability, and competitive pricing. Additionally, BYD was named Best Company of the Year for its ambitious expansion plans in Europe.
The all-electric BYD SEAL, launched in November 2023, has already garnered numerous industry accolades. With the upcoming release of the SEAL U DM-i, BYD’s first UK Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), this recognition further solidifies BYD’s strong market presence. The SEAL starts at £45,695 OTR, while the SEAL U DM-i begins at £33,205 OTR.
A panel of international judges from bestcarsoftheyear.com played a crucial role in securing these victories for BYD. The panel included renowned car designers, engineers, auto industry leaders, motorsport legends, journalists, broadcasters, media professionals, vehicle retailers, automotive consultants, motor club chiefs, and major motoring event organisers.
The judges were particularly impressed by the BYD SEAL and SEAL U DM-I models. Shinichi Katsura and Peter Lyon from Japan were among those who praised these vehicles. "I voted for Seal this time around," said Peter Lyon, Best COTY’s Tokyo Bureau Chief. "I particularly like the sedan version because it stands out as a cool-looking EV saloon that doesn’t break the bank."
Mike Rutherford, founder of Best Cars of the Year and judging panel chairman, commented on BYD’s award for Best Car Company of the Year: "BYD is just about the most daringly ambitious manufacturer on the planet right now. Apart from building a new car every few seconds, it’s establishing a network of plants in Europe and elsewhere to complement its existing Chinese factories. I’ve never known a company so willing and able to take on and beat the world. And its Seal saloon and Seal SUV - effectively a range within a range - provide further evidence that if this Chinese firm isn’t yet a legitimate member of the premium car club, it soon might be."
