BYD Seal Launched In India At Rs 41 Lakh - 650km Range
The world's largest electric carmaker BYD has launched the Seal electric sedan in India. Prices for the BYD Seal start at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Dynamic variant which offers a range of 650km as per the NEDC cycle.
The BYD Seal is offered in three variant levels for the Indian market. The base Dynamic RWD variant offers a range of 510km and is priced at Rs 41 lakh, while the mid-spec Premium RWD variant (650km range) commands a price tag of Rs 45.5 lakh. The top-spec Performance(AWD) version is priced at Rs 53 lakh and offers a range of 580km.

The BYD Seal is based on the world's largest electric manufacturer's modular e-Platform 3.0 and features an 800V electric architecture. The India-spec Seal sports an 82.56kWh battery pack with BYD's Blade LFP batteries for the Premium and Performance variants while the Dynamic gets a smaller 61.44kWh pack.
The BYD Seal's battery pack supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 150kW, which allows it to go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in just 37 minutes. The on-board AC charger tops out at 11kW and takes 8.6 hours to fully charge the Seal.

The battery pack powers a single electric motor that is fitted to the rear axle of the BYD Seal. This motor produces 201bhp and 310Nm of peak torque in the Dynamic variant. This allows the BYD Seal (Dynamic) to sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 180km/h.
The Premium variant ups the output to 308bhp and 360Nm and ups the range to 650km (NEDC), which is the most of the three variants, thanks to the larger battery pack and it can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.

The Performance variant goes down the dual-motor route upping the output to 523bhp and 670Nm of peak torque while the range drops slightly to 580km. The BYD Seal Performance sprints from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
In terms of its design, the BYD Seal takes most of its cues from the Ocean-X Concept on which it is based. At the front, the BYD Seal sports a split lighting design up front with the four LED DRLS sitting on the lower section of the front bumper.

The sleek LED headlights sit further up and meld into the bonnet. Other design highlights include a coupe-like roof that is all glass, flush door handles, 19-inch wheels and a full-width LED lightbar at the rear for the taillights.
Step inside the BYD Seal and you're greeted by a premium 'Thaumaus Black' interior that is dominated by the dual displays on the dashboard. The real highlight is the rotating 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen in the centre while the driver also gets a smaller 10.25-inch display and a HUD.

Other features like the drive selector, driving mode scroll wheel and dual wireless chargers can be found on the centre console along with a controller for volume and other basic controls. The BYD Seal also features powered front seats, dual zone AC with air filteration system
The BYD Seal comes packed with a host of safety features that have ensured that it earned a 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. The BYD Seal also features ADAS tech including the likes of autonomous emergency braking, collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise, lane support, speed detection systems, and lane departure warning among others.

Thoughts About The BYD Seal
The BYD Seal is the third offering from the world's largest electric car manufacturer to come to India and is its most premium offering to date. The Seal is also the first non-utility vehicle offering from BYD to come to India.
If the BYD Seal does live up to the numbers will prove to be a brilliant offering for those looking for an EV but not wishing to go down the SUV route.
