BYD Launches New Hybrid Sedan, Priced Competitively at 80k Yuan (Rs 9.11 Lakh)
BYD has launched the Glory Edition of the Qin Plus DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan to help shift from gas to electric cars in China. With a starting price of 79,800 yuan (~$11,000 or Rs 9.11 lakh), it's set to compete with cars like the Volkswagen Lavida and Toyota Corolla.
Positioned as a budget-friendly alternative in the hybrid segment, the Glory Edition of the Qin Plus DM-i offers significant cost savings compared to its competitors.

With a price tag that is approximately 50% lower than the Toyota Prius hybrid, and around 15% cheaper than the Volkswagen Lavida, this new offering from BYD is set to disrupt the Class-A (compact) car segment in China.
BYD's aggressive pricing strategy for the Glory Edition of the Qin Plus DM-i reflects the company's commitment to meeting the evolving preferences of Chinese car buyers.

As consumer demand shifts towards more affordable EV options, BYD aims to capitalize on this trend by offering a compelling hybrid sedan that combines affordability with advanced technology and performance.
Under the hood, all variants of the Qin Plus DM-i,share the same powertrain configuration. A 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine generates 110 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque, while an integrated electric motor provides additional power and efficiency.
The integrated electric motor comes in two options: one generating 180 hp and 316 Nm of torque, and the other producing 197 hp and 325 Nm of torque. With two battery pack options available, including an 8.32 kWh and an 18.32 kWh unit, the Glory Edition offers an impressive all-electric range of 55 km.
Despite its competitive pricing, the Glory Edition of the Qin Plus DM-i does not compromise on comfort and convenience. The cabin is equipped with a range of features including a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, and optional leather seats and dashboard.

With BYD's plans for the Indian market on the horizon, including upcoming models such as the BYD Dolphin EV, BYD Seal, BYD Seagull, and BYD Sea Lion, the Glory Edition represents just the beginning of BYD's expansion into new markets and segments.
