BYD ETM6: Leading The Charge In Sustainable Urban Logistics Across Europe
BYD, a global leader in new energy vehicles and power batteries, is showcasing the BYD ETM6 eTruck at IAA 2024. This pure-electric truck has already been introduced in over ten European countries, catering to various market needs with its advanced technologies. The ETM6's technology has proven reliable over three years in Europe. One customer has driven their ETM6 fleet over 1 million km, reporting significant reductions in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The truck combines modern design aesthetics with advanced electromobility technologies, including the BYD ePlatform developed exclusively for eTrucks.
Wolfgang Egger, BYD’s Design Director, crafted the ETM6's design. The exterior features a rounded front face and dynamic lines for a streamlined look. Concealed door handles reduce air resistance, while Angel Eye headlights provide clear illumination. The wheelbase dimensions enhance manoeuvrability, making it suitable for urban driving.
The interior cabin mirrors the exterior's modern feel, accommodating up to three people. It includes ergonomically designed seats and ample storage compartments. A 10.1-inch Smart touchpad offers information, entertainment, and connected drive experiences to ease the driver's life.
BYD has created a highly integrated e-Platform specifically for pure-electric trucks like the ETM6. This platform includes a compact 5-in-1 controller that optimises performance and efficiency while reducing maintenance time and costs. BYD is unique in developing its own powertrain systems, power batteries, automotive semiconductors, motors, and motor controller systems.
The Iron-Phosphate battery used in the ETM6 enhances safety and stability compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries. It is also environmentally friendly as it is 100% cobalt-free. The eTruck Platform includes a body controller system and Smart Pad touchscreen that provides real-time vehicle status information.
High-Tech Standard Specification with ADAS
The BYD ETM6 offers a high-tech driving experience with advanced technology and intelligent driver assistance systems (ADAS). Features include Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Advanced Emergency Braking. Additional equipment includes an electric parking brake, electric power steering, multi-function steering wheel, and an 8-inch info screen.
The large 10.1-inch Touchpad serves as a focal point for connected and real-time information from the body controller system. The truck has a range of up to 200 km with a full load and can be charged from 20% to 100% in just one hour using DC (120 kW) charging.
