BYD E6 Facelift To Be Launched In India As EMax7: A New Contender In EV Market

The price of the BYD eMax7 will be revealed by early October. BYD India has announced that the facelifted e6 MPV will be renamed the BYD eMax7 upon its launch. Also its price is expected to be disclosed in early October.

BYD eMax7: Exterior and Interior Updates

Official teasers have confirmed that the India-bound eMax7 will feature mildly altered headlamp and tail-lamp designs, similar to the BYD M6 sold in Indonesia. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned to keep things fresh. Additionally, more chrome elements will be added at both ends of the vehicle.

Inside, the most significant update is a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the existing 10.1-inch unit. The dashboard remains mostly unchanged, but the centre console has been slightly revised with two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. A new steering wheel has been introduced, although analogue dials for the instrument cluster are retained.

BYD eMax7: Powertrain and Specifications

In Indonesia, the e6 offers two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with a range of 530km. The smaller battery produces 163hp while the larger one generates 204hp; both variants have a torque rating of 310Nm. This is a significant improvement from the existing car's outputs of 95hp and 180Nm.

BYD already offers the 71.8kWh battery on the e6 in India, so it is likely to remain unchanged for the eMax7. The claimed range with this larger battery is up by 8km compared to previous models. It is still uncertain whether the smaller battery pack will be available in India.

BYD eMax7: Features and Technology

The facelifted BYD e6 MPV, known as the BYD M6 in markets like Indonesia, where it debuted in July 2024, comes with more features and updated technology along with visual enhancements on its exterior. For India, these updates are expected to be carried over with minimal changes under its new name, BYD eMax7.

The updated model includes multiple seating options and enhanced tech features aimed at improving user experience. These updates are designed to make it more competitive in its segment despite having no direct rivals as an electric MPV in India.

The name change from BYD M6 to BYD eMax7 in India is likely because another entity holds copyright over the M6 name here. This strategic move ensures brand consistency while avoiding legal complications.
