BYD EMax 7 Electric MPV Likely To Be A 7-Seater
BYD India is set to introduce the eMax 7 electric MPV by early October. This new model is an extensively updated version of the e6 MPV, which has been available since 2021. The facelift includes not only cosmetic changes but also additional features, positioning it as a competitor to the Innova Hycross MPV.
The eMax 7 will feature three rows of seating, unlike the e6, which was a five-seater. It will be available in both six- and seven-seater configurations. Although this new layout will reduce cargo space compared to the e6, the seats have been upgraded with leatherette upholstery for a more premium feel.

BYD eMax 7: Enhanced Features and Technology
One of the standout features of the eMax 7 is its fixed panoramic glass roof, providing an open and airy feel to the cabin. Additionally, it will come equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite and a redesigned centre console featuring faux wood and aluminium inserts. The dashboard will also boast soft-touch materials and more premium-looking switchgear.
The Toyota Innova Hycross, slightly larger than the eMax 7, offers a similar seating arrangement but comes with a petrol-hybrid powertrain. In contrast, the eMax 7 remains a purely electric vehicle. One of its key advantages over the Toyota is BYD's signature 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen, among other features.

Battery Options and Performance
Internationally, the eMax 7 offers two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a claimed range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with a range of 530km. The smaller battery produces 163hp while the larger one generates 204hp; both variants deliver torque rated at 310Nm. This marks a significant improvement from the existing car's outputs of 95hp and 180Nm.
Currently, BYD offers the larger 71.8kWh battery on the e6 in India, so it's likely this option will remain unchanged for the eMax 7. However, it is still uncertain whether the smaller battery pack will be available in India.

Pricing Expectations
The pricing for the eMax 7 is expected to be competitive with minimal increase over its predecessor. Sources indicate that it will be priced between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom). This positions it directly against the Toyota Innova Hycross, whose top-spec ZX(O) hybrid variant is priced at Rs 30.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
The introduction of these new features and enhancements makes the BYD eMax 7 an attractive option in its segment. With its advanced technology and premium touches, it aims to offer a compelling alternative to other MPVs in the market.
