BYD E6 Electric MPV Facelift Teaser Out: All Details Here
BYD India has hinted at a facelift for the e6 MPV, expected to launch by Diwali this year. Initially introduced as a commercial vehicle, the e6 became available for private buyers in September 2022. The updated model was first showcased at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in July, where it is branded as the M6.
The facelifted e6 features significant exterior and interior updates. The front now boasts new full-LED headlamps with a revised LED daytime running lamp signature. These are connected by a new satin trim bearing BYD lettering. Additionally, the front bumper has been redesigned with more contoured air vents and chrome elements.

Interior Enhancements
Inside, the most notable change is the larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, replacing the previous 10.1-inch unit. The dashboard remains largely unchanged, but the centre console has been updated with two wireless charging pads, new switchgear, and a new drive selector lever. A new steering wheel has been added while retaining analogue dials for the instrument cluster.
At the rear, the e6 facelift includes new wraparound tail-lamps that are larger and feature new LED detailing. The rear bumper has also been slightly modified with chrome inserts similar to those on the front bumper. The profile of the car remains mostly unchanged, though it is expected to receive a new set of alloy wheels.

Powertrain and Specifications
In Indonesia, the e6 offers two battery pack options: a 55.4kWh unit with a range of 420km and a 71.8kWh unit with a range of 530km. The smaller battery produces 163hp while the larger one generates 204hp; both variants have a torque rating of 310Nm. This is a significant improvement from the current model's 95hp and 180Nm outputs.
The Indian version of the e6 already comes with the 71.8kWh battery, which will likely remain unchanged in terms of availability. However, it's unclear if the smaller battery pack will be introduced in India. Notably, the claimed range for this larger battery has increased by 8km.

Internationally, the e6 is available in either 6- or 7-seater configurations, but it remains to be seen which setup will be offered in India. Currently, only a 5-seater version is available here. Other notable features include automatic climate control, 360-degree cameras, cruise control, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a powered tailgate.
The current price of the BYD e6 stands at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated model is expected to come with a slight premium over this price point. As an electric MPV, it currently faces no direct competition in the market.

BYD's decision to introduce these updates aligns with their strategy to enhance their presence in India’s growing electric vehicle market. The combination of improved features and performance makes this facelift an attractive option for potential buyers looking for an eco-friendly MPV solution.
