BYD Dolphin Adds Affordable Active And Boost Trims For UK Market
The agile and eco-friendly BYD DOLPHIN C-segment hatchback introduces its most affordable trims, Active and Boost, to UK buyers. This high-tech electric vehicle is now accessible to more consumers, with the Active trim priced at £26,195 OTR and the Boost at £27,165 OTR.
BYD DOLPHIN’s new trims, Active and Boost, join the existing Comfort and Design trims. These additions complete the lineup of this award-winning pure-electric vehicle. The car combines playful design aesthetics with advanced EV technology, making it a practical choice for eco-conscious drivers.

The BYD DOLPHIN features a 44.9 kWh LFP Blade Battery, offering a range of 211 miles for the Active trim and 193 miles for the Boost trim (WLTP). This battery is known for its superior safety and thermal stability. It integrates seamlessly with BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0, enhancing system efficiency and vehicle intelligence.
Standard equipment across all trims includes high levels of driver technology. The vehicle boasts an array of active and passive safety features. These include Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Collision Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Cruise Control, and a panoramic camera providing 360-degree visibility.
The Active trim pairs its 44.9 kWh battery with a 70 kW (95 ps) motor. It can be charged by AC power up to 7 kW or DC power up to 65 kW. The Boost trim features a more powerful 130 kW (176 ps) motor and supports charging with an 11 kW AC (3-phase) charger or DC power up to 65 kW.
A notable feature is the high-efficiency heat pump system that enhances thermal efficiency by up to 15% in winter. Additionally, the CRBS regenerative braking system efficiently recovers braking energy. Both models can use a 100 kW DC charger to replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 28 minutes.
Design and Comfort
The BYD DOLPHIN adopts the "Ocean Aesthetics" design concept inspired by dolphins. This gives it a distinctive appearance that is both stylish and functional. The car measures 4,290 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width (with wing mirrors unfolded), and has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm optimized for space and comfort.
Inside, the vehicle offers seating for five with ergonomically designed vegan leather sports seats. The front seats are heated with electric adjustments while the rear seats provide ample legroom thanks to the e-Platform 3.0. The rear seats can be split 60:40 to expand the boot space from 345 litres to an impressive 1,310 litres.
Advanced Technology Integration
The BYD DOLPHIN’s Blade Battery passed rigorous safety tests like the Nail Penetration Test. Known for its high power density and ultra-low energy consumption, it ensures durability and top performance. The battery integrates with BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 featured in other models like ATTO 3 and SEAL.
The vehicle also includes over 20 practical storage spaces along with Vehicle to Load (VtoL) discharge back technology that allows it to function as a mobile power station. This feature is convenient for activities such as outdoor picnics or open-air movies.
