BYD Sets New Benchmarks In Fuel Efficiency With Hybrid Models Challenging Maruti Suzuki
Maruti Suzuki has long been a leader in fuel-efficient vehicles, but Chinese automaker BYD is now challenging this dominance with its new hybrid models, the Qin L DM-i and the Seal 06 DM-i. These cars boast an impressive mileage of 35 kilometers per liter, thanks to advanced hybrid technology.
The Qin L DM-i and the Seal 06 DM-i were first launched in China and are expected to enter other global markets soon. Both models come in five trims, with prices ranging from approximately Rs. 11.5 Lakhs to around Rs. 16.10 Lakhs.

The Qin L DM-i draws inspiration from dragon aesthetics, featuring a large grille with a chrome strip, sleek headlamps with DRLs, and a sculpted bonnet. It also includes traditional door handles and sporty alloy wheels with low-profile tires. The car's distinctive tail section features an electric spoiler.
On the other hand, the Seal 06 DM-i showcases unique design elements inspired by Chinese paintings. It is equipped with an 8.8-inch LCD instrument screen and a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Additional features include automatic air conditioning, phone-as-key functionality, six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, a six-speaker music system, DiPilot L2 driving assistant system, panoramic sunroof, dashboard camera, electrically adjustable front seats, and heated and ventilated seats.
Performance and Range
Both models utilise BYD's latest 5th generation DM technology, combining an internal combustion engine with an electric motor.

This hybrid system delivers a mileage of 35 km per liter and offers a range of 100 km on just 2.9 liters of fuel. The range is attributed to the 10.7 kWh battery pack integrated into the hybrid system.
The battery capacity and range vary depending on the variant. Entry-level trims provide an 80 km range on a full charge, while higher trims offer up to 120 km.
DriveSpark Thinks
BYD's Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i bring a compelling challenge to fuel-efficient leaders. Their hybrid tech boasts impressive mileage and electric range, potentially disrupting the market.
While we await global release and official reviews, the specs suggest a new era of affordable eco-friendly driving could be dawning.
