Bugatti W16 Mistral Achieves New Top Speed Record: A New Speed Milestone
Bugatti has once again made history in the world of automotive speed records. On November 9th, at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg GmbH in Germany, Bugatti set a new record for open-top vehicles. This achievement adds to Bugatti's long-standing tradition of breaking speed records, a journey that began over a decade ago.
Record-Breaking Speed
The latest milestone was achieved by the one-off W16 Mistral World Record Car. Driven by Andy Wallace, Bugatti's official pilot and Le Mans 24 Hours winner, the car reached an incredible speed of 453.91 km/h. This feat was supervised by SGS-TÜV Saar GmbH, ensuring its authenticity. Wallace described the experience as thrilling, highlighting the car's stability and power at such high speeds.
In June 2010, Bugatti's Veyron 16.4 Super Sport set a record with a speed of 431.07 km/h. Later, in 2019, the Chiron Super Sport 300+ broke another record for closed-cockpit vehicles at 490.48 km/h. The pursuit of speed continued with open-top cars when the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse reached 408.84 km/h in 2013.
Celebrating Success
The event was attended by Bugatti and Rimac CEO Mate Rimac, along with senior management and vehicle technicians who shared in this emotional achievement. The customer of the W16 Mistral World Record Car was also present. This customer owns a collection that includes each of Bugatti's World Record Cars and is part of the Singh Collection in Punjab, India.
The W16 Mistral World Record Car stands out with its vibrant 'Jet Orange’ accents on the lower body and wheels, valued at €14m. This design choice is an evolution from previous Veyron World Record Cars' signature hue and continues inside with orange-accented features celebrating its achievements.
Reflecting on this success, Mate Rimac spoke about Bugatti's relentless quest to excel in luxury, elegance, and performance. He emphasized how this accomplishment showcases the team's dedication to perfection and highlights Bugatti's unmatched legacy in setting new standards in the automotive industry.
This remarkable achievement not only underscores Bugatti's commitment to pushing limits but also cements its place as a leader in automotive innovation and excellence worldwide.
