London, England: 24th June 2024 - Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty company, is set to present an extraordinary collection of over 200 pieces of petroliana and memorabilia. This online auction, running from 14th to 28th July 2024, features a single-owner private collection offered without reserve.
Among the highlights is a meticulously restored 1963 Bedford CA Dormobile, which was featured on the television series Wheeler Dealers. This vehicle has been upgraded with a more powerful 2.0 engine, automatic transmission, and new two-tone paintwork. The interior boasts retrimmed seats, new cabinets, and a stainless-steel sink. The roof canopy has been replaced with genuine red and white Dormobile striped canvas. The estimated value is between £20,000 and £30,000.
Lot 108 features a large Michelin Man figurine known as 'Le Pneu Michelin'. Introduced at the Lyon Exhibition of 1894 by the Michelin brothers, this iconic figure stands at 1.2 metres tall and remains in excellent condition. It is estimated to fetch between £2000 and £3000.
Two separate lots include Esso figurines of the Oil Drop Man character named Happy. Launched in the United States in 1958, Happy was often depicted with Oil Drop Woman. Each figurine stands at 1.2 metres tall and is estimated at £1700 to £2500.
Lot 279 showcases an Atlantic Motor Spirit petrol pump designed by Gilbert & Barker. This dual-cylinder, hand-crank petrol pump has been fully restored and represents an elegant automotive age. Estimated between £8000 and £12,000, it makes for a decorative display piece.
