All-New Maruti Suzuki Swift Bookings Now Open: 3-Cylinder Engine, New Platform & More
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to introduce the fourth-generation Swift in India. The new Swift is set to launch around May 9, and bookings are now open for a nominal fee of Rs 11,000, which can be made online or at authorized dealerships.
What's New
The upcoming Swift is not just any update; it's a significant overhaul that includes cosmetic, interior, and powertrain enhancements. While retaining the iconic Swift silhouette, the car will feature distinct design tweaks exclusive to the India-spec model, such as unique bumpers and alloy wheels.

It's also expected to be marginally longer, yet slightly narrower than its predecessor, maintaining the same wheelbase. Inside, the Swift's cabin receives a comprehensive update. Although it shares components with siblings like the Baleno and Fronx, the Swift will have its own flair.
The dashboard and the 9.0-inch touchscreen housing will see slight modifications, yet the infotainment system, HVAC controls, steering wheel, and door switchgear will be familiar to Maruti Suzuki enthusiasts. Safety is also a priority, with features like six airbags and ESP potentially becoming standard.

Powertrain
The most notable change comes in the form of an all-new Z Series 3-cylinder petrol engine. This 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine is set to replace the outgoing K12 four-cylinder engine. Despite aiming for higher fuel efficiency, the power and torque figures are expected to hover around the outgoing model's 88bhp and 113Nm.
There's also a possibility of mild-hybrid technology being introduced. The transmission options remain a topic of speculation, with many wondering if Maruti Suzuki will transition to a 6-speed torque converter from the current AMT.

This new Swift will go head-to-head with competitors like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Tata Tiago, and Citroen C3. Price adjustments are anticipated, especially considering the outgoing Swift's price range of Rs 6.24 lakh to Rs 8.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
A recent price hike for the current Swift models suggests Maruti Suzuki aims to position the new version as a value-for-money proposition amidst rising automotive costs.

DriveSpark Thinks
As the launch date approaches, Maruti Suzuki's strategy seems clear: to offer a modern, efficient, and safe hatchback that builds on Swift's legacy while setting new standards in its class.
With the Indian market's evolving preferences, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift appears poised to capture the hearts of many, continuing its journey as one of the country's most beloved hatchbacks.
