All-New BMW X3 SUV Teased Ahead Of Official Reveal: Plug-in Hybrid, New Tech & Much More

The anticipation for BMW's new generation X3 SUV is mounting as its unveiling nears, expected in just a few weeks. Recognized as one of the German luxury car manufacturer's bestsellers, the BMW X3 has impressively sold 350,000 units in 2023 alone, overtaking the iconic 3 Series sedan in popularity.

The forthcoming model, internally referred to as G45, has been officially teased, albeit in a camouflaged avatar. Underneath the camouflage, the new X3 boasts a sleeker body and significant improvements in efficiency and performance.

BMW has successfully reduced the drag coefficient from 0.29 to 0.27, which is expected to enhance fuel efficiency. Compared to its predecessor, the G01 generation, the new model features a wider track and increased rigidity. The implementation of upgraded anti-roll bars promises a more comfortable ride experience.

The introduction of an adaptive chassis equipped with electronically controlled shock absorbers aims to ensure superior comfort for passengers. Enhancements also extend to a more direct steering ratio and advanced safety and driver assistance technology, with BMW expressing confidence in the new X3's performance in the Euro NCAP crash tests.

Design-wise, the next-generation BMW X3 will offer a simplified dashboard layout, including a mix of touchscreen controls and conventional physical buttons for basic functions. The teaser images have revealed camouflaged prototypes of the plug-in hybrid and M Performance versions.

The plug-in hybrid is expected to feature a larger battery pack for an extended electric-only range. Meanwhile, the high-performance variant is set to adopt a new nomenclature, moving from M40i to M50, marking a departure from the traditional 'i’ suffix as part of BMW's refreshed naming strategy.

DriveSpark Thinks

This new generation BMW X3, with its array of improvements and the introduction of a plug-in hybrid variant, signifies BMW's ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. As the launch date approaches, the automotive world eagerly awaits the full reveal of the new BMW X3 SUV.
