BMW X3 M50 Competes In 2024 Rebelle Rally With All-Female Team And Enhanced Performance Features

BMW of North America is back in the desert for the 2024 Rebelle Rally, a challenging off-road event. Veteran driver Rebecca Donaghe and navigator Syndiely Wade will cover over 1,500 miles across California and Nevada in the new BMW X3 M50. This rally, running from October 11 to 18, is the longest of its kind in the U.S., featuring female teams using only paper maps and compasses.

"I'm excited to return for my 8th Rebelle Rally and 2nd year with BMW, this time in the all-new BMW X3," said driver Rebecca Donaghe. "We weren't sure what to expect last year and came away with a podium finish, so this year we know what's possible, expectations are high, and we'll be pushing even harder. It's another chance to take the Ultimate Driving Machine to the ultimate proving grounds and showcase BMW's engineering capabilities in some of the most beautiful and challenging terrain in North America." She added, "It’s especially exciting to drive a pre-production model even before the first customers have taken delivery."

The BMW X3 M50 has been slightly modified for this year's rally. It features custom skid plates and interior storage solutions crafted by students at BMW Manufacturing Talent Factory. The vehicle also includes Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires, Rotiform BLQ-C wheels, and a Front Runner Slimline II roof rail rack kit with Wolfpack storage boxes and Typhoon duffle bags.

Additional modifications include Rigid Industries 360-Series front light pods and Chase Amber rear lighting. The exterior is protected with XPEL STEALTH satin paint protection film, while XPEL PRIME XR Plus nano-ceramic window film and XPEL FUSION PLUS ceramic coating safeguard wheels, glass, and paint surfaces.

The BMW X3 has played a significant role in popularizing BMW's Sports Activity Vehicles since its introduction over two decades ago. Assembled in Spartanburg, South Carolina, it remains one of BMW's top-selling models today. The fourth-generation model will soon be available in U.S. showrooms.

Dr. Andreas Meyer, Vice President of Product Management BMW Americas, stated: "More versatile and sportier than ever, the all-new BMW X3 is an ideal choice for everything from spirited grocery store runs to cross-country road trips, and now proves its capabilities even for the ultimate rallying adventure." He expressed pride in supporting their all-female team with such a capable vehicle.

BMW Group's Presence in America

Since 1975, BMW of North America has been active in the U.S., expanding its operations significantly over time. The company encompasses marketing, sales, financial services for various brands including MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. Additionally, it operates Designworks consultancy in California and a technology office in Silicon Valley.

The manufacturing plant in South Carolina serves as a global hub for assembling several BMW models like X3 through X7 Sports Activity Vehicles. In total, there are 350 centers for passenger cars and Sports Activity Vehicles across the U.S., alongside numerous motorcycle retailers and dealers for MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles.

The fourth-generation BMW X3 offers two powerful engines: a 255-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder starting at $49,500; or a high-performance 393-horsepower 3.0-liter six-cylinder starting at $64,100.

Navigator Syndiely Wade commented on their preparation: "We are prepared to tackle this challenge inside the all-new BMW X3—a vehicle that combines performance, offroad capabilities, and comfort." She emphasized her excitement about using traditional navigation methods during this unique competition.
