BMW M5 (G90) Launched At Rs 1.99 Crore - Hybrid Super Sedan Is Here
German carmaker BMW has launched the M5 performance sedan in India. The BMW M5 is priced at Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom) and sees the most potent version of the 5 Series turn hybrid for the very first time.
Powering the BMW M5 is a hybridized version of Bavarian marque's potent 4.4-litre V8 engine which is aided by an electric motor that draws power from a high voltage 18.6 kW lithium-ion battery that delivers a range of 69km on a single charge.

The 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged BMW Motorsports (BMW M) engine pushes out 577bhp and 750Nm of peak torque and is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The electric motor adds another 194bhp and 280Nm and the combined output is limited to 717bhp and 1,000Nm of peak torque.
This monumental power output means that the new BMW M5 despite tipping the scales at 2,345kg can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.5 seconds with 0-200km/h taking just 10.9 seconds.

The BMW M5's top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h but this can be lifted to 305km/h if the owners choose the optional M Driver's package. When tootling around in silent EV mode, the M5's top speed is limited to just 140km/h.
The BMW M5 comes with the firm's Adaptive M suspension setup with electronically controlled dampers and active rear steering which can turn the rear wheels up to 15 degrees in the opposite direction in slow speed turns.

The M5 looks like an ultra-aggressive version of the BMW 5 Series with its adaptive LED headlights flanking the larger kidney grille finished in black high gloss and sporting the M5 badge.
The new M5 also sports an aggressive front bumper with large air intakes, along with puffed-up wheel arches, a carbon roof which is part of the carbon exterior package that also adds carbon exterior mirror caps and rear spoiler to the super sedan.

Also seen is a two-section diffuser, twin exhaust pipes and lightweight alloy wheels - 20 inches (285/40 ZR20) at the front and 21 inches (295/35 ZR21) at the back. The M5 sports large steel disc brakes that can be upgraded to optional M Carbon ceramic brakes.
The BMW M5 is offered in an Arctic White non-metallic paint scheme as well as the following metallic colourways - Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Fire Red, Carbon Black, Isle of Man Green, Storm Bay, Marina Bay Blue, Frozen Deep Grey.
Customers can also opt for BMW's individual paintworks for the ultimate custom colour for the exterior of the M5. The hybrid super sedan's interior is draped in Full Merino leather offered in - Red/Black, Kyalami Orange, Silverstone/Black and Black colourways.
