BMW M4 CS - Top 5 Things To Know

The BMW M4 CS has been introduced in India, priced at Rs 1.89 crore (ex-showroom). This model is positioned above the M4 Competition, offering enhanced performance features. It is the first CS variant from BMW to be available in India. The M4 CS is designed to compete with upcoming models like the Mercedes C 63 S e-Performance.

BMW M4 CS: Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the BMW M4 CS uses a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine, similar to the standard M4. However, it delivers 550hp, which is 20hp more than the M4 Competition. This increase is due to a boost in turbo pressure from 1.7 bar to 2.1 bar. The peak torque remains at 650Nm but is now available from 2,750rpm to 5,950rpm, extending by 220rpm compared to its predecessor.

To enhance track performance, BMW has upgraded the powertrain with an improved cooling system and increased oil supply to the clutch. These changes ensure that the four-wheel-drive system maintains optimal performance during extended sessions. Stiffer engine mounts contribute to better responsiveness.

Design Enhancements

The exterior of the M4 CS features distinctive yellow-tinted daytime-running lights and a red-outlined kidney grille with bronze wheels. Inside, it boasts an Alcantara flat-bottom steering wheel and a curved display that includes a 14.9-inch touchscreen alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster running on BMW's latest Operating System 8.5.

Interior & Features

The interior also includes carbon bucket seats and unique touches like red 'CS' lettering on the centre console and M seat belts. The head-up display offers M-specific graphics, while dedicated buttons for M Mode and Setup provide easy access to various settings for engine, chassis, steering, braking system, and all-wheel drive.

Weight Reduction & Performance

The BMW M4 CS benefits from weight-saving measures such as a titanium exhaust silencer and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic components used in areas like the centre console and gearbox paddles. These changes make it 20kg lighter than its predecessor.

This reduction contributes to its impressive acceleration capabilities; it can sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.4 seconds—0.1 seconds faster than the M4 Competition—and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 302kph.

Market Positioning

The price of the M4 CS is Rs 36 lakh higher than that of the M4 Competition due to these enhancements. Its main competitors include models like Audi RS5 and future entrants such as India's C 63 S e-Performance.

Overall, this model combines advanced engineering with luxury features, making it an attractive option for enthusiasts seeking both performance and style in their vehicles.
