BMW M Team RLL Celebrates Historic One-Two Finish At Indianapolis IMSA Race
Jesse Krohn and Philipp Eng secured a significant victory for the BMW M Hybrid V8 at the home race of BMW M Team RLL. Connor De Phillippi and Nick Yelloly completed a remarkable one-two finish, marking their first since entering the GTP class. Andreas Roos expressed his delight, stating, "This has been an incredibly successful week for our LMDh programme with the first podium in the FIA WEC and the first 1-2 in the IMSA series."
The recent triumph at Indianapolis was a notable achievement for BMW M Team RLL. The team celebrated their first one-two finish in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Eng and Krohn led their #24 BMW M Hybrid V8 to victory over teammates De Phillippi and Yelloly. This success came shortly after their podium finish in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
BMW M Team RLL's strategic decisions played a crucial role in their victory. The team faced challenging conditions at the start of the "Battle on the Bricks" race, with rain leading to a drying track. The #24 crew made a pivotal decision by switching to slick tyres early, which helped them gain an advantage over competitors.
In addition to their success in Indianapolis, Turner Motorsport also celebrated a podium finish in the GTD class. Robby Foley, Patrick Gallagher, and Jake Walker drove their #96 BMW M4 GT3 to second place. Meanwhile, Paul Miller Racing's Madison Snow, Bryan Sellers, and Neil Verhagen finished eighth in the GTD PRO category with their #1 BMW M4 GT3.
Andreas Roos praised BMW M Team RLL for their perseverance throughout a challenging season.
