BMW M Motorsport Ready For Exciting FIA WEC And IMSA Double-Header Weekend
BMW M Motorsport is gearing up for an action-packed weekend with participation in both the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IMSA Series). The races are set to take place at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Laguna Seca in the USA, respectively. The team's lineup includes two BMW M Hybrid V8s and two BMW M4 GT3s for the FIA WEC, fielded by BMW M Team WRT, and an identical setup for the IMSA Series race by BMW M Team RLL. Additionally, Paul Miller Racing and Turner Motorsport will compete in the GTD classes with the BMW M4 GT3.
In Belgium, BMW M Team WRT is poised to make a significant impact at their home race at Spa-Francorchamps. With a strong driver roster featuring Robin Frijns, René Rast, Sheldon van der Linde, Raffaele Marciello, Dries Vanthoor, and Marco Wittmann, the team is determined to secure a leading position among hypercars. Following a successful outing at Imola, where they achieved a one-two finish in the LMGT3 class, expectations are high for another stellar performance.
Across the Atlantic, BMW M Team RLL is focused on clinching their first podium of the season at Laguna Seca. The driver team of Philipp Eng, Jesse Krohn, Connor De Phillippi, and Nick Yelloly are all set to make their mark. Turner Motorsport celebrates a significant milestone with their 557th race for BMW, fielding the BMW M4 GT3 with start number 557. Paul Miller Racing is also in contention in the GTD-Pro class with their BMW M4 GT3.
Andreas Roos, Head of BMW M Motorsport, shared his optimism about the upcoming races. He praised the team's performance at Imola and emphasized the goal of translating this into tangible results. Roos also acknowledged Turner Motorsport's loyalty to BMW on reaching their racing milestone.
Vincent Vosse, Team Principal of BMW M Team WRT, expressed enthusiasm for competing on home turf at Spa-Francorchamps. He is confident that the track will suit the BMW M4 GT3 well and hopes to replicate their LMGT3 success. Dries Vanthoor echoed this sentiment, highlighting the opportunity to demonstrate their progress with the BMW M Hybrid V8. Augusto Farfus is also aiming to maintain momentum from Imola and secure valuable points towards the world championship.
Connor De Phillippi from BMW M Team RLL shared his excitement about returning to Laguna Seca, a track where he has fond memories. He anticipates an engaging race, particularly from a strategic standpoint.
