BMW App Introduces Electric Vehicle Analysis For Easier EV Transition
Electric Vehicle Analysis aids customers in making informed decisions about their drive type. This tool allows BMW drivers with combustion engines to simulate the suitability of an all-electric BMW for their driving habits. By selecting an electric model in the app, users can see how many trips could be completed on a single charge after driving at least 2,000 kilometres.
The latest update enhances route planning between the vehicle and app. Users can now set preferences like avoiding motorways or toll roads directly in the app, which syncs automatically with the vehicle. Additionally, charging-optimised route planning for electric vehicles includes adding individual charging stops that are synchronised with the car.
BMW's apps are continuously updated and improved, with five updates annually. These enhancements are crucial for customers, particularly for those focused on electric mobility and vehicle charging. The apps now notify users of nearby facilities at charging stations, such as restaurants and supermarkets.
The new Charging Wallet feature allows electric vehicle drivers to manage their preferred charging tariffs from various providers within the app. When selecting a charging station, users can view prices for different tariffs and choose the most cost-effective option available.
Dirk Wiedmann, Senior Vice President Sales Steering and Strategy, Digitalisation, stated: "Electric vehicles can already be incorporated perfectly into the daily routine of many customers – it’s just that the majority of them haven’t tried it yet." He added that the Electric Vehicle Analysis helps customers make informed decisions about their drive system choice.
Wide-Reaching App Functions
The My BMW App and MINI App have over 13 million users globally, with one million in Germany alone. Both apps boast an average rating of 4.8 stars in the App Store. They offer features like locking/unlocking doors, climate control activation, sending navigation destinations, and using Remote 3D View to check the vehicle's surroundings or interior.
Servicing and maintenance needs can also be managed through these apps. Users receive notifications when their car requires servicing and can schedule appointments directly within the app. The app supports users throughout the service process with check-in assistance, service videos, status tracking, and payment options.
The Electric Vehicle Analysis uses real-world driving data from combustion-engine models via the My Trips function. This personalised data helps provide a solid basis for deciding on a drive type for future vehicles. Future upgrades will include evaluations of idle times and long-distance journeys combined with information on charging facilities and required charging times.
To use this analysis tool, customers need a BMW with a combustion engine running BMW Operating System 7 or later and must consent to their driving data being used for analysis purposes.
The availability of specific functions varies based on vehicle specifications and country regulations. For example, some features may not be accessible in certain regions due to local restrictions or differences in vehicle models.
The apps also offer accident and breakdown assistance quickly through user-friendly interfaces. This ensures that help is readily available whenever needed without any hassle.
The continuous expansion of these apps reflects high user satisfaction levels globally. They keep drivers informed about their vehicle's status while providing convenient services like remote locking/unlocking and climate control activation from anywhere.
These advancements highlight BMW's commitment to enhancing customer experience through digitalisation while addressing concerns related to electric mobility adoption among its user base worldwide.
