BMW Launches 5 Series Long Wheelbase In India This July: Design, Interiors, Features, More
German automaker BMW is set to introduce the new 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India on July 24. This will be BMW's second LWB sedan in the country, following the 3 Series Grand Limousine.
India will be the second market after China to get the 5 Series LWB. The new model will compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, expected to launch later this year.

Design Details
The 5 Series LWB closely resembles the standard model, with an extended length. It retains the headlamp and tail-lamp design, and the illuminated grille from the standard version. Some variants may have minor tweaks to the front and rear bumpers. Unlike the E-Class LWB, the 5 Series LWB's rear door lacks a rear quarter glass.
Interior and Features
In China, the BMW 5 Series LWB comes with luxury features like 4-zone climate control, quilted upholstery, and a dual-tone interior. A standout feature is the 31.1-inch display that folds down from the headliner.

This screen offers 8K resolution, 5G compatibility, and pairs with a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Many of these features are expected to be included in the India-spec model.
Dimensions
The BMW 5 Series LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105mm. This version is 145mm longer than the standard 5 Series sedan, with 110mm of the extra length added to the wheelbase. The Indian version is expected to have a right-hand drive setup and slightly increased ground clearance.

Powertrain
BMW has not yet specified the powertrain options for the 5 Series LWB. However, it is anticipated to come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Both engines are expected to include a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
With a longer wheelbase, the BMW 5 Series LWB promises to offer more space and comfort for rear passengers. The luxury sedan is anticipated to come equipped with advanced technology and premium features, continuing BMW's reputation for delivering a sophisticated driving experience.
DriveSpark Thinks
As BMW expands its lineup of long-wheelbase models in India, the competition in the luxury sedan segment is expected to intensify.
With a focus on providing luxury and comfort tailored to the preferences of the Indian market, the 5 Series LWB is poised to attract discerning customers seeking an elevated driving experience.
