BMW Set To Launch 5 Series LWB In India Tomorrow: Elevating Luxury Sedan Standards
BMW is gearing up to launch the new 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India tomorrow, on July 24th. This will be BMW's second LWB sedan in the country, following the 3 Series Grand Limousine. India will be the second market after China to receive this model, which will compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, expected later this year.
Design Details
The 5 Series LWB closely mirrors the standard model but features an extended length. It maintains the headlamp and tail-lamp design, along with the illuminated grille from the standard version. Some variants may have slight modifications to the front and rear bumpers. Unlike the E-Class LWB, the 5 Series LWB's rear door does not include a rear quarter glass.

In China, the BMW 5 Series LWB boasts luxury features such as 4-zone climate control, quilted upholstery, and a dual-tone interior. A notable feature is a 31.1-inch display that folds down from the headliner. This screen offers 8K resolution, 5G compatibility, and pairs with a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. Many of these features are expected to be included in the India-spec model.
Interior and Features
The BMW 5 Series LWB measures 5,175mm in length, 1,900mm in width, and 1,520mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105mm. This version is 145mm longer than the standard 5 Series sedan, with an additional 110mm added to the wheelbase. The Indian version is anticipated to have a right-hand drive setup and slightly increased ground clearance.

BMW has not yet disclosed specific powertrain options for the 5 Series LWB. However, it is expected to come with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Both engines are likely to include a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
Dimensions
The longer wheelbase of the BMW 5 Series LWB promises more space and comfort for rear passengers. The luxury sedan is anticipated to come equipped with advanced technology and premium features, continuing BMW's reputation for delivering a sophisticated driving experience.
As BMW expands its lineup of long-wheelbase models in India, competition in the luxury sedan segment is expected to intensify. With a focus on providing luxury and comfort tailored to Indian market preferences, the 5 Series LWB aims to attract discerning customers seeking an elevated driving experience.
