Bharat Petroleum And IONAGE Strengthen Partnership To Enhance India's EV Charging Infrastructure
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), recognized as a 'Maharatna' and featured in the Fortune Global 500 list, has made headlines by renewing its collaboration with Bangalore-based IONAGE, a key player in the eMobility services sector. This partnership is set to advance India's electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, marking a significant move towards the country's sustainable mobility aspirations.
This collaboration underscores BPCL's dedication to bolstering India's EV infrastructure, aiming to simplify the charging process for EV owners. By incorporating its EV chargers into IONAGE's comprehensive platform, BPCL strives to enhance the convenience and reach of its charging facilities. This move is in line with India's 2030 EV adoption ambitions, emphasizing BPCL's role in fostering a greener and more sustainable transportation future.

IONAGE's role in this alliance is pivotal, offering EV owners seamless access to a wide array of charging stations through its platform. This integration simplifies the charging experience, bringing together chargers from diverse Charge Point Operators (CPOs) under a single umbrella. It's a significant leap towards making EV charging more user-friendly across the nation.
The commitment towards improving EV charging accessibility in India was echoed by Shri Pardeep Goyal, Business Head, Retail, BPCL. He stated, "We are pleased to extend our partnership with IONAGE, At BPCL, accessibility and convenience of customers is of prime importance for utilization of charging infra. Our collaboration with IONAGE will enable customers to utilize BPC chargers from Ionage's aggregation platform."
This sentiment was further supported by IONAGE's CEO, Shri Vimal Kumar, who emphasized the vision of building a cohesive ecosystem for EV owners and operators. Kumar highlighted, "At IONAGE, our vision is to create a cohesive and comprehensive ecosystem that supports the needs of all electric vehicle owners and operators."
He further mentioned, "And in line with this vision, we are happy to have extended our partnership with a robust and well-respected brand like BPCL, who not only offers the fast EV charging facilities on highways, but also offers the secure place to unwind and take breaks. This is a significant step towards making EV charging more accessible and reliable across India".
The official signing of the agreement saw the participation of key figures, including Shri S. Kannan, Chief General Manager Marketing (Retail), BPCL, and Shri Vimal Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, IONAGE, in the presence of Shri Pardeep Goyal, Business Head, Retail, BPCL. This event marked the continuation of a fruitful partnership aimed at transforming India's electric mobility landscape.
As India forges ahead with its electric mobility transition, supported by government initiatives and growing consumer interest, the expansion of public charging stations plays a crucial role. This collaboration between BPCL and IONAGE is instrumental in meeting the country's EV targets for the next decade, showcasing the importance of joint efforts in expanding EV infrastructure.
