Bharat NCAP 5-Star Ratings: Tata SUVs Triumph In Safety
The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP) has conducted crash tests on four SUVs since its launch on October 1, 2023. BNCAP aims to assist consumers in making well-informed choices and has taken over from Global NCAP for evaluating car safety in India.
All the vehicles tested so far have been manufactured by Tata Motors. Here are the outcomes of the latest crash tests on these Tata SUVs.
Tata Nexon EV

Recently tested by BNCAP, the Tata Nexon EV earned a 5-star rating for both adult and child protection. It scored 29.86 out of 32 points for adult protection and 44.95 out of 49 points for child protection. Priced between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.49 lakh, it competes with the Mahindra XUV400, offering an ARAI-certified range of up to 465km.
Tata Punch EV
Similar to the Nexon EV, the Punch EV also secured a 5-star rating for both adult and child protection. It scored 31.46 out of 32 points for adult protection and 45 out of 49 points for child protection. The Punch EV is available at a price range of Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh.

Tata Harrier
The Tata Harrier, crash tested in December last year, received a 5-star safety rating from BNCAP. It achieved an Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 30.08 out of 32 and a Child Occupant Protection (COP) score of 44.54 out of 49. The Harrier is priced between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 26.44 lakh.
Tata Safari
Tested alongside the Harrier in December, the Tata Safari also earned a 5-star safety rating. The Safari matched the Harrier's AOP score of 30.08 out of 32 and a COP score of 44.54 out of 49. It is priced between Rs 16.19 lakh and Rs 27.34 lakh.
