Besima Svraka Revolutionises Bosnia And Herzegovina's Motorsport World, Joins WWCOTY
Besima Svraka has joined the Women's Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) jury, expanding it to 76 jurors from 54 countries. WWCOTY is unique as it consists solely of women motoring journalists. Besima's addition marks a significant milestone in Bosnia and Herzegovina's automotive journalism scene.
FBL magazine, where Besima works, has been a prominent publication in Bosnia and Herzegovina for over a decade. Known for its engaging content, it is one of the most widely read magazines in the country. The magazine prioritises journalistic integrity, focusing on accuracy and truthfulness in every article.

Besima Svraka has made notable strides in her career by creating a dedicated section on cars within FBL magazine. Last year, she launched "FBL Drivers – Women Behind the Wheel," aiming to challenge stereotypes about women drivers and inspire others. She believes it's time to change perspectives on women behind the wheel.
The automotive market in Bosnia and Herzegovina is primarily driven by used vehicle imports. Economic conditions and purchasing power influence this trend, with new car sales being relatively low compared to other European nations. German brands like Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Škoda are particularly popular due to their perceived reliability and status.
There is a growing interest in SUVs and electric vehicles in Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the penetration of electric and hybrid vehicles remains low. Infrastructure for electric vehicles is slowly developing, mainly in urban areas. The country's strategic location in the Balkans makes it a crucial transit point for automotive trade between Western Europe, the Balkans, and the Middle East.
Women's Worldwide Car of the Year
The Women's Worldwide Car of the Year was established by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre in 2009. Sandy serves as Honorary President while Marta García is Executive President. This award aims to recognise the best cars annually while giving a voice to women in the automotive industry.
The voting criteria for WWCOTY are based on factors that any driver would consider when choosing a car. These include safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits, and environmental impact. The jurors do not select cars based on gender-specific preferences but rather on overall excellence.
Beyond selecting top cars each year, WWCOTY aims to highlight women's contributions to the automotive world. It seeks to amplify women's voices globally because mobility provides numerous personal and professional opportunities for women.
Besima Svraka expressed her excitement about joining WWCOTY: "I am excited about the opportunity to be part of this significant team of women." Her appointment reflects her dedication to advancing women's roles in motoring journalism within Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The road infrastructure in Bosnia and Herzegovina has seen improvements with investments enhancing connectivity through highways and major roads. However, rural areas still face challenges with road quality affecting vehicle choices and driving conditions.
FBL magazine's commitment extends beyond just reporting; it delves into various societal aspects through insightful articles. From trend analyses to features on emerging talents, FBL strives to provide its readers with engaging content that informs and captivates.
Besima's efforts at FBL magazine aim not only at breaking stereotypes but also at encouraging other women interested in cars. Her work represents a significant step towards changing perceptions about women drivers while inspiring others to pursue their dreams related to automobiles.
