Exclusive Bentley Bacalar And Batur To Be Showcased By Mulliner At Salon Privé 2024
Salon Privé is thrilled to announce that Bentley Motors' bespoke and coachbuilding division, Mulliner, will be present at this year's Blenheim Palace event from 28-31 August. The British luxury brand will display prototypes of the ultra-bespoke Bentley Bacalar and Bentley Batur. These rare models will be showcased for guests to admire and see in action during the renowned Salon Privé Parade.
The Bentley Bacalar marked a significant return to bespoke coachbuilding for Mulliner, the world's oldest coachbuilding company. Unveiled in 2020, the Bacalar was designed as "the ultimate expression of two-seat, open-air luxury." Its roofless 'Barchetta' design features a modern wrap-around cockpit and a semi-enclosed rear compartment for bespoke luggage by Italian leather goods company Schedoni. Only 12 Bacalars were crafted to individual customers' tastes.
The Bentley Batur coupe, introduced in summer 2022, previewed Bentley's new design language. Limited to just 18 units, it offered unprecedented personalisation options. The Batur became the most powerful W12 in Bentley's history, producing 750PS and 1,000Nm of torque. Each customer collaborated with a dedicated Mulliner Designer to create a unique vehicle.
Salon Privé Director David Bagley expressed excitement about Bentley's participation: "We are delighted to welcome Bentley to Salon Privé with these two remarkable creations from Mulliner. The Bentley Batur is one of just 18, and the Bentley Bacalar is even rarer, being one of 12. To have them both together at Blenheim Palace for our guests to inspect is very exciting, and I can't wait to see them underway in the Salon Privé Parade."
The Bacalar's design DNA and sustainable materials were inspired by the Bentley EXP 100 GT concept car, launched for Bentley's centenary in 2019. Produced in the world's first certified carbon-neutral facility for luxury car production, materials included rice husk ash paint and ancient Riverwood. The Bacalar was named after Mexico’s Laguna Bacalar on the Yucatan peninsula, known for its stunning natural beauty.
Mulliner offers three portfolios: Curated by Mulliner presents luxury-focused derivatives of Continental, Flying Spur, and Bentayga models; Bespoke by Mulliner provides exclusive tailoring services; Coachbuilt by Mulliner creates the most exclusive vehicles from the factory. They are also known for reviving classic models like the 1929 Team 4½ litre supercharged Bentley Blower and the 1930 Bentley Speed Six.
Salon Privé Event Highlights
This year marks the 19th edition of Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace. Known as ‘The UK’s most exclusive automotive garden party,’ it runs from 28-31 August. Highlights include Salon Privé MotorAvia on 27 August, Concours presented by Aviva Private Clients on 28 August, Concours Awards on 29 August, Style Friday on 30 August presented by Boodles, and Supercar Saturday on 31 August presented by Lockton.
The stunning Aqua-Marine Batur prototype will be displayed at this year's event. Named after Lake Batur on Bali island in Indonesia, this crater lake is known for its nutrient-rich waters supporting local hot springs and agriculture.

Salon Privé proudly supports the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). Donations from the event will aid NSPCC’s mission to protect children from abuse and neglect across the UK and Channel Islands.
