Bentley Motors Marks Milestone With New Design Centre Topping Out Ceremony

Bentley Motors celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its new Design Centre with a topping out ceremony. This event marked the completion of the building's structural phase. Bentley’s new Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, along with Board Members Andreas Lehe and Dr. Matthias Rabe, were present to commemorate this achievement.

The new Design Centre is set to be completed next year and involves converting one of Bentley’s oldest buildings on site, the iconic ‘Front of House’. This building dates back to 1939 and has been a significant part of Bentley’s history, hosting notable visitors such as Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The redesign and architecture have been conceptualised by Bentley’s own Design team.

Upon completion, the new space will be approximately double the size of the previous Design Centre. It will accommodate around 50 designers who will focus on exterior, interior, and colour and trim designs. This expansion is a key element in Bentley’s £2.5 billion investment programme aimed at transforming its Pyms Lane factory in Crewe into a ‘Dream Factory’.

Dr. Matthias Rabe commented on the significance of this development: "We are currently in the middle of a design revolution that will help define a new chapter for Bentley design, as part of our Beyond100 transformational journey. Therefore building an innovative, creative environment for our designers to drive the development of future BEV models and more extraordinary products is key to our aim of becoming the world’s leading sustainable luxury mobility company."

Bentley’s Beyond100 strategy aims to reinvent its entire product range to support a fully electrified future. This strategy includes developing future Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) models and other extraordinary products within an innovative and creative environment.

Commitment to Future Growth

Andreas Lehe summed up the importance of modernising their site: "Modernising our site not only gives a clear commitment to a long-term future in Crewe, however also shows our ambition that to continue to invest in state-of-the-art buildings will help establish a benchmark position in truly digital, innovative, highly-flexible luxury car development and manufacture."

This expansion reflects Bentley's commitment to maintaining its headquarters in Crewe while investing in state-of-the-art facilities that support digital innovation and flexible luxury car manufacturing.
