Bentley Leads Auto Industry In Sustainability By Joining Leather Naturally

Bentley Motors has become the first car manufacturer to join Leather Naturally, an international NGO promoting sustainable leather. This partnership highlights Bentley's dedication to its Beyond100 strategy, aiming for leadership in sustainable luxury mobility.

Leather Naturally advocates for certified, responsibly-sourced leather as a natural by-product of a circular economy. The NGO educates and promotes leathers made from hides that would otherwise be waste, supporting environmental sustainability.

In 2021, Bentley joined the Leather Working Group, promoting responsible practices within the leather industry. The company introduced a sustainable leather option using an organic by-product of the olive oil industry, known as Olive Mill Waste Water tanned Leather. This process avoids harmful heavy metals, minerals, and aldehydes.

Marc Stang, Technical Expert at Bentley Motors, stated: "Leather is a timeless, luxury material that has always epitomised the elegance, durability and quality of a hand-crafted Bentley interior. It has a rich history that dates back decades in our cars and has always stood the test of time. The application of the latest sustainable leathers allows an even wider variety of choice for our customers and further supports our industry-leading Beyond100 strategy."

Bentley's headquarters in Crewe houses all operations including design, R&D, engineering, and production of its five model lines: Continental GT, Continental GT Convertible, Flying Spur, Bentayga and Bentayga EWB. The company employs around 4,000 people at this site.

Debbie Burton, Chair of Leather Naturally, remarked: "Leather Naturally is delighted to welcome Bentley as a member. As a brand synonymous with both luxury and leather, this partnership underlines its commitment to furthering sustainability and ongoing improvement through its Beyond 100 vision."

Bentley's integration into Leather Naturally aligns with its broader environmental initiatives. These efforts are part of Bentley's strategy to lead in sustainable luxury mobility through innovative practices and materials.

The combination of fine craftsmanship passed down through generations and advanced engineering technology sets Bentley apart among UK luxury car brands. This blend exemplifies high-value British manufacturing at its finest.
