Bentley To Launch New Continental GT Speed, Boasting Power And Sustainability

Bentley is set to launch its most powerful car ever, the fourth-generation Continental GT Speed, at 16:00 BST on Tuesday, 25 June. This new model will feature the Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, delivering 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. It also boasts an electric-only range of 50 miles (80 km) and a WLTP CO2 figure under 50 g/km.

The Continental GT Speed will be the fastest Bentley road car in the company's 105-year history, with a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). This milestone aligns with Bentley's Beyond100 strategy to lead in sustainable luxury mobility, offering a plug-in drivetrain across all model ranges.

New Bentley GT Speed Launch

In addition to its performance capabilities, the new Continental GT Speed retains Bentley's signature handcrafted luxury and exceptional materials. The latest chassis technology includes active all-wheel drive with torque vectoring, four-wheel steering, an electronic Limited Slip Differential, 48V electric active anti-roll control, and advanced dual-valve dampers.

To demonstrate its performance credentials, Bentley will announce that the new Continental GT Speed has set an unofficial "underwater speed record" in Norway's Ryfylke Tunnel. A film showcasing this achievement will be released at the launch event.

The Continental GT has been pivotal in Bentley's modern history since its original unveiling in 2002. The first generation catalysed a ten-fold increase in sales and redefined the brand for the modern era. The second generation was introduced in Paris in 2010, featuring a W12 engine and later a 4.0-litre V8 option in 2012.

The third generation followed in 2018 with a new platform, engine, suspension, electrical architecture, technology, and interior and exterior designs. This iteration set a new benchmark for the luxury GT sector.

The new Continental GT Speed combines high performance with sustainability. Its Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain allows for an electric-only range of up to 50 miles (80 km), making it a significant step forward in Bentley's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions.

The latest chassis technology ensures that the new Continental GT Speed is the most dynamic Bentley yet. Features such as active all-wheel drive with torque vectoring and four-wheel steering enhance driving performance and stability.

Historical Significance

Since its debut in 2002, the Continental GT has played a crucial role in Bentley's evolution. Each subsequent generation has introduced significant advancements in technology and design, maintaining Bentley's position as a leader in the luxury car market.
