New Bentley Continental GT Speed Showcases Hybrid Power At Goodwood

The fourth-generation Continental GT and GTC Speed made their global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. These cars were showcased both on the hillclimb and in a unique underwater display, aligning with the event's theme, "Horseless to Hybrid - Revolutions in Power." The new models represent Bentley's most powerful road-going vehicles to date.

Powered by an all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, the new Continental GT Speed boasts 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. This powertrain surpasses the outgoing W12 engine in both horsepower and torque while significantly reducing CO2 emissions to 29 g/km. The advanced chassis system includes two-chamber air springs, dual-valve dampers, Bentley Dynamic Ride (48V active anti-roll control), eLSD, and torque vectoring.

The exterior design marks a significant evolution for Bentley, featuring the most substantial revision to the Continental GT's face in two decades. It is also the first mainstream Bentley since the 1950s to feature single headlamps. This bold design direction signals a new era for Bentley's future models.

Inside, Bentley continues its tradition of world-leading cabin design and craftsmanship. The interior offers wellness seat technology, new air ionisation systems, three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting patterns, and technical finishes like dark chrome. These enhancements ensure that Bentley remains at the forefront of luxury car interiors.

The new chassis system delivers exceptional handling and ride comfort. With a 49:51 rear-biased weight distribution for the first time in its history, the Continental GT Speed achieves incredible body control. The combination of advanced suspension components ensures that this model offers the best ride comfort among all Continental GTs to date.

In addition to their performance on the hillclimb, two examples of the new Continental GT Speed are displayed near the Kinrara Enclosure in a bespoke 'FOShtank.' This unique display celebrates an unofficial 'Underwater Speed Record,' where a car achieved 208 mph (335 km/h) through a tunnel. The 'FOShtank' is a modified version of Bentley's glass 'Toy Box' display units from their Dream Factory campus in Crewe.
