Bentley Commences Production Of The Fourth-Generation Continental GT On Founder’s Birthday
Bentley Motors has announced the completion of the first fourth-generation Continental GT, coinciding with Walter Owen Bentley's 136th birthday. This model, finished in Tourmaline Green, mirrors the car from the unofficial 'Underwater Speed Record' film. Initially part of the UK Press Fleet, it will later join Bentley’s Heritage Collection permanently.
The new Continental GT Speed combines supercar performance with handcrafted luxury and everyday usability. It features a comprehensive redesign both inside and out, showcasing modern detailing inspired by the Bentley Bacalar and Batur models. The car is powered by an Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, delivering 782 PS and 1,000 Nm torque from a 4.0-litre V8 engine paired with a 190 PS electric motor.
Andreas Lehe, Bentley’s Member of the Board for Manufacturing, remarked on the production start: "The fourth-generation Continental GT is a true masterpiece. The vivid launch colour of Tourmaline Green is a modern interpretation of the notable Bentley Green, designed and painted by our in-house craftspeople. The vehicle completed a staggering 92 assembly stations throughout the Production process and we’ve also pushed the boundaries of our interior vehicle design, with three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting, and dark chrome finishes. Our artisans in Crewe have truly outdone themselves, ensuring every detail exudes luxury."
The new model boasts impressive performance metrics: it accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and offers an electric-only range of 50 miles (81 km) on the EU drive cycle. The total range reaches up to 534 miles (859 km), making it suitable for daily use as well as high-performance driving.
This particular car will eventually become part of Bentley’s Heritage Collection. This collection now includes 45 cars ranging from the oldest Bentley (the 1919 3-Litre EXP2) to this latest generation Continental GT from 2024. These vehicles represent each decade of Bentley's 105-year history.
