Bentley Showcases Support For LGBTQ+ With Unique Pride-Themed Car
Bentley Motors has reaffirmed its commitment to the LGBTQ+ community with a unique Pride Car for the North West Pride parades in the UK. This fourth dedicated Pride Car, designed by Rich Morris, features vibrant colours and linework inspired by the Unifying Spur and the Hindu festival of Holi, symbolising love, new life, and acceptance.
The striking Continental GTC convertible showcases a chaotic black line with faces emerging from it, representing the emotional turmoil individuals may face during self-discovery. Bright splashes of paint from the progressive Pride flag cover these faces, illustrating how makeup and styling can help people express their true selves.
Wayne Bruce, Chief Communications and DEI Officer at Bentley Motors, highlighted the significance of this year's Pride Car. "Our fourth dedicated Pride Car holds a special place in our DEI journey, which began in 2020 with the first car that bravely initiated the conversation. This initial step served as a catalyst, inspiring the creation of BeProud and sparking our ongoing DEI efforts."
Bruce added that this year's car merges inclusive symbolism with Holi's joyful spirit. "This year’s Pride Car is a celebration of these values, merging the inclusive symbolism of the Progress Flag with the vibrant, joyful spirit of Holi. It embodies our dedication to diversity and unity, striving to cultivate a culture where everyone feels they belong."
Bentley will participate in Crewe, Nantwich, and Manchester Pride events as part of its year-round support for LGBTQ+ communities. Colleagues, their partners, and allies linked to Bentley's network will join colourful parades to reinforce a culture where employees feel comfortable being their authentic selves at work.
The parades celebrate progress while raising awareness and inspiring others to challenge discrimination. Designer Rich Morris expressed his honour in working on this project: "It has been an honour to work on this project for Bentley, following the success of my Unifying Spur design in 2021."
A Symbol of Acceptance
Morris explained that his design symbolises darkness and uncertainty during self-discovery using colours inspired by Holi. "This design symbolises the darkness and uncertainty one may experience during self-discovery. It employs colours and linework inspired by both the Unifying Spur and the Hindu festival of Holi."
This year's car encourages individuals to embrace their true selves. "This year’s car is about individuals embracing and being their true, authentic selves," Morris added.
Bentley's headquarters in Crewe houses all operations including design, R&D, engineering, and production of its five model lines: Continental GT, Continental GTC, Flying Spur, Bentayga, and Bentayga EWB. The company employs around 4,000 people at Crewe.
The combination of fine craftsmanship passed down through generations alongside engineering expertise makes Bentley unique among UK luxury car brands. This high-value British manufacturing exemplifies excellence at its best.
This latest Pride Car stands as a powerful testament to Bentley's mission of fostering acceptance and belonging within its community. It encapsulates what #BelongingAtBentley truly means.
