Ben Welcomes Rachel Clift As CEO, Extends Gratitude To Zara Ross

Rachel Clift will become the new CEO of Ben, the automotive industry charity, starting 1st November 2024. She will replace Zara Ross, who has led Ben since July 2016 and is now retiring. Rachel currently serves as Ben’s Health & Wellbeing Director and has been with the organisation since September 2018.

Rachel Clift's appointment follows a comprehensive recruitment process that included external candidates. Her leadership has significantly expanded Ben’s Health & Wellbeing services, nearly tripling its reach and impact within the industry. Rachel’s proven dedication makes her well-suited to guide Ben into its next phase.

Steve Nash, CEO of The Institute of the Motor Industry and Chair of Ben’s Trustee Board, expressed confidence in Rachel's abilities. He stated, "We are confident that Rachel will bring the expertise, inspiration, drive, and leadership needed to steward Ben through its next strategic phase."

Zara Ross has been a pivotal figure in Ben’s history, leading the charity through significant transformation over eight years. Her tenure saw major accomplishments such as strategic reviews with the Board of Trustees and navigating challenges like the Covid pandemic. Zara also oversaw a major refit at Ben’s Town Thorns Care Centre.

The Board of Trustees extended their heartfelt thanks to Zara for her exceptional leadership and dedication. Although she will step down as CEO on 31st October 2024, Zara will continue working with Ben as Transfer Programme Director until care and village services are transferred to new operators.

Future Plans Under New Leadership

Ben’s Board of Trustees aims to further treble the charity’s impact by 2030 under Rachel's leadership. The focus will be on addressing the growing health and wellbeing needs of those in the automotive industry. Rachel said she is excited about leading Ben through its biggest phase of transformation yet.

Rachel expressed gratitude towards Zara for her support and dedication. She said, "I’m thrilled to be assuming the role of CEO at Ben and I’m excited about leading the charity through its biggest phase of transformation yet."

Zara Ross reflected on her time at Ben, saying it was one of the most rewarding experiences of her career. She expressed confidence in Rachel's ability to lead Ben to greater heights in the future. "I’m confident that I’m leaving the organisation in very capable hands - I have no doubt that Rachel will rise to the challenge," Zara said.
