BEDEO And Dangel Announce Partnership To Electrify French Commercial Vans
BEDEO, a leader in electrifying large vans, has partnered with French light commercial vehicle manufacturer Automobiles Dangel. This collaboration was confirmed at the IAA Transportation show. They will showcase a Reborn Electric RE-100 Tipper based on a Fiat Ducato Stellantis X250 platform. Dangel will produce these retrofitted large vans for the French market under the brand: DANGEL, powered by BEDEO.
The Reborn Electric programme offers hybrid and full electric conversions for large vans, aiming to reduce emissions with minimal operational disruption. The electric-only BE models can achieve up to 248 km WLTP range, while the RE-100 offers a 117 km electric range and a 600 km range extender. These conversions can be applied to various van types, including tippers, refrigerated vans, and ambulances.
BEDEO's partnership with Dangel marks the European debut of the Reborn Electric programme. This initiative aims to expand BEDEO's manufacturing and sales network across key European markets. The collaboration will enable Dangel to manufacture and retrofit BEDEO's systems at its facility in Alsace, France, selling directly to French customers.
Osman Boyner, Founder and CEO of BEDEO, stated: "The French retrofit market for large vans is gaining momentum, and our strategic partnership with Dangel is in direct response to this demand and need to decarbonise LCV fleets. Working with Dangel will enable our homologated Reborn Electric solutions to reach a wider range of French fleet users."
BEDEO’s Reborn Electric packages are developed using proprietary e-solutions like in-wheel motor (IWM) technology, inverters, and battery packs. These components are manufactured in-house to OEM production-approved standards. The company has been at the forefront of vehicle electrification since 2009 and has supplied electric drivetrains for Stellantis group’s large LCV family from 2019 to 2024.
Dangel has been converting Citroën and Peugeot vehicles for off-road use since 1980. Recently, they extended their expertise to Fiat and Opel brands. The company will market the Reborn Electric line alongside its current 4x4 offerings from its Sentheim facility in Alsace.
Market Demand and Government Support
The announcement comes as McKinsey & Company reports that light commercial vehicles contribute 40% of logistics-related emissions. This highlights the importance of electrifying LCVs. In France, there is high demand for retrofitting due to an €8,000 government subsidy for fleet owners adopting retrofit solutions.
Philippe Hébert, Directeur Général of Automobiles Dangel said: "BEDEO's Reborn Electric range will enable Dangel to offer a complete range of solutions to meet all driveability requirements: from Trek, with improved driveability in two-wheel drive, to 4x4, via the retrofitting of diesel vehicles."
Future Prospects
The partnership between BEDEO and Dangel could extend beyond France into other European countries due to its cost-effective approach to fleet electrification. BEDEO’s transformative approach has made it a preferred partner for over forty blue-chip customers in logistics and urban waste management sectors.
Stellantis has approved both BE and RE versions of the Reborn Electric system. This opens up the retrofit market for BEDEO’s in-wheel motor-enabled solution—the first of its kind globally. The package already holds EU-Type Approval, with plans for national approvals where necessary.
BEDEO continues to innovate with its retrofit solution named Reborn Electric. This system converts existing diesel vans into electric or range-extended versions using IWM technology. It addresses range anxiety issues while promoting low-emission solutions.
