Baojun Yep Plus Electric SUV Unveiled: Design, Features, Range, And More

Earlier this year, Baojun revealed the Yep Plus, a 5-door electric SUV, expanding on the design of its 3-door sibling, the Yep, and sharing its roots with the MG Comet. Recently, a new batch of images has been released, offering further insight into the vehicle's features and design.

With its launch on the horizon, the Yep Plus is set to make a substantial impact on the electric vehicle (EV) market. In terms of design, the Yep Plus boasts a distinctive tall and boxy appearance that's designed to be versatile for both city roads and off-road adventures.

One of the standout features is its unique LED headlamps, comprising 184 LED beads. These not only enhance the vehicle's futuristic look but also provide superior visibility with a low beam angle exceeding 45° and high beam illumination reaching 178 meters. The SUV offers a choice of five colours.

Attention to detail is evident in its rugged bumper, pronounced wheel arches, and thick body cladding. The blacked-out pillars, body-coloured door handles, functional roof rails, and 16-inch low rolling resistance tyres contribute to its robust and practical design.

Notably, its tyres, measuring 205mm in width, are touted as best in class for ensuring optimal traction. Enhanced safety is achieved through the use of dual-piston callipers for improved braking efficiency.

At the rear, the Yep Plus features vertically positioned tail lamps and a side-opening tailgate that includes 12 litres of storage. The vehicle's design also accommodates additional storage on the roof rack.

The Yep Plus is designed with families in mind, offering seating for five passengers. It measures 3,996mm in length, 1,760mm in width, and 1,726mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm. Its ground clearance stands at 150mm when fully loaded, and it boasts a turning radius of 5.35 meters.

Under the sheet metal, the Yep Plus is powered by a 75kW electric motor. While specific details about the battery pack remain undisclosed, it's speculated that a LFP battery will be utilized. The SUV is expected to achieve a range of 401km according to CLTC standards, supported by both AC and DC fast charging capabilities.

With the recent unveiling of new images, the anticipation for the Yep Plus's launch is building. Its starting price in China is projected to be around 100,000 yuan (approximately Rs 11.54 lakh). When it arrives in India, it's believed that the MG-badged version will be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
