Bangalore International Airport Introduces 175 Electric Taxis In Sustainability Push
On June 6, 2024, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) introduced 175 electric airport taxis in collaboration with Refex eVeelz. This initiative aims to provide eco-friendly and convenient travel options for passengers. Currently, around 1,300 airport cabs operate, offering safe and reliable rides.
The electric airport taxis are part of BIAL's commitment to sustainability and reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector. By incorporating electric vehicles into their fleet, BIAL is paving the way for a greener future in airport transportation. The new electric taxis offer passengers a comfortable and environmentally conscious way to travel to and from the airport, contributing to a cleaner and healthier environment for all.

With the addition of the electric taxis, BIAL is setting a precedent for other airports to follow in adopting sustainable practices. The partnership with Refex eVeelz demonstrates a shared commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility in the transportation industry. Passengers can now enjoy a greener travel experience while supporting efforts to combat climate change through the use of electric airport taxis.
Eco-Friendly Travel
Passengers can book these electric taxis at the airport taxi stands or via the 'BLR Pulse’ app. The fare starts at Rs 100 for the first 4 kilometers and Rs 24 for each additional kilometer. This initiative aligns with BIAL's commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
Commitment to Sustainability
During the World Environment Day celebrations, Hari Marar, MD & CEO of BIAL, highlighted the airport's pioneering role in airport taxi services. The goal is to transition all airport vehicles to electric power, contributing to a cleaner environment.
Inclusive Service
BIAL has introduced redesigned EV taxis in teal and pink. Teal symbolizes sustainability, while pink is dedicated to female passengers and driven by female drivers. This is aimed at enhancing safety and inclusivity.
Safety Measures
Female passengers are provided with a 'pink card' containing emergency contact numbers for the duty manager, local police, and ambulance services to ensure their safety during the journey. This initiative aims to create a secure environment for all travelers, especially women, and to offer them peace of mind knowing that help is easily accessible if needed.

DriveSpark Thinks
By equipping passengers with essential contact information, the company demonstrates its commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of its female customers while promoting a sense of security and confidence throughout their travel experience.
Private operators like BluSmart and Shoffr also offer electric taxi services, expanding the range of eco-friendly travel options available to passengers at Bengaluru airport.
