Audi Q6 E-tron Gets Customizable Daytime Running Lights!
Audi and Forvia Hella have collaborated to create a groundbreaking headlamp concept for the Q6 e-tron. This innovative system features a digital daytime running light matrix, allowing drivers to choose their preferred light signature from a whopping eight preset designs.
Beyond Illumination: A Personal Touch
Traditionally, LED lighting has played a crucial role in shaping a car's visual identity. However, the Q6 e-tron takes things a step further. "We are opening up new degrees of freedom for end consumers to help shape the appearance of the vehicle front," says Yves Andres, a Forvia Hella board member responsible for the global lighting business.
A Headlamp Divided
The Q6 e-tron's headlamp design cleverly divides the lighting elements into two distinct sections, mirroring the car's bodywork. The lower section prioritizes functionality, featuring a Matrix LED headlamp system with 14 LEDs. This advanced technology allows drivers to utilize glare-free high beams without blinding oncoming traffic.
In contrast, the upper section focuses on visual appeal. It houses the digital daytime running light matrix, comprised of 61 individually switchable segments. These segments work together to create the customizable light signature that drivers can choose from.
Customization at Your Fingertips
The eight pre-designed light signatures cater to various preferences. Audi has even included unique Coming Home and Leaving Home scenes for an extra touch of personalization. Selecting your desired signature is easy - simply use the car's MMI (Multi Media Interface) or a dedicated app.
Global Innovation, Local Production
The matrix LED headlamps are manufactured in the Czech Republic, with a dedicated version for the Chinese market produced locally. Additionally, series development takes place across Germany and the Czech Republic, showcasing a truly global effort.
