Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Pursues First Major Title In IMSA WeatherTech Championship Finale
The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 is poised for a significant achievement at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship finale, Petit Le Mans, at Road Atlanta. Partnered with The Heart of Racing (THoR), Aston Martin aims to secure its second IMSA title in three years. Ross Gunn, a seasoned Aston Martin Racing driver, is competing for the GTD Pro championship.
This weekend, THoR will field two Vantage GT3s in the GTD Pro class at Road Atlanta. Success here could add another crown to their 2022 GTD class triumph with Roman De Angelis. Aston Martin is also on the brink of securing titles in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with Team TGM.
The new Vantage GT3 has had an impressive debut season globally. It claimed victory at the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa and achieved its first Autobacs Super GT class win in Japan. Additionally, it secured wins in various prestigious series like FIA World Endurance Championship and ADAC GT Masters.
Gunn, along with Alex Riberas and De Angelis, will drive the regular #23 Vantage GT3 entry. The #27 Vantage, usually in the GTD class, will compete in GTD Pro to earn crucial manufacturer points. This car will be driven by Mario Farnbacher, Zach Robichon, and Marco Sørensen.
Magnus Racing's new Vantage GT3 will be the sole Aston Martin in the GTD class. This team has been a consistent performer at Petit Le Mans since 2010 and seeks its first class win with John Potter, Andy Lally, and Spencer Pumpelly.
Vantage GT4's Debut
The new Vantage GT4 debuts at Road Atlanta this weekend after winning in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with Rebel Rock Racing. Driven by Frank DePew and Robin Liddell, it aims to continue its success in the Fox Factory 120 race.
Aston Martin partners Team TGM lead the GS class teams’ and drivers’ championships by 110 points. They need only finish sixth or higher to clinch their third title since 2020. Four more previous-generation Vantages are entered by AMR partners Archangel Motorsports and van der Steur Racing.

Carter praised THoR's competitiveness both locally and internationally: "We knew when we began this season that we had a car that could deliver enormous potential for our partners, but in order to get the best out of any racing car you need a team and drivers that can extract performance."
Upcoming Race Details
The Fox Factory 120 race starts at 12:45 EDT on Friday, October 11th. Official practice for Petit Le Mans begins on Thursday at 10:40 EDT with the race starting on Saturday at 12:10 EDT.
