Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Builds Momentum For 2024 WEC And IMSA Success
Aston Martin's partner teams, D’station Racing and Heart of Racing (HoR), are gearing up for the TotalEnergies 6 Hours of Spa, aiming to build on their successful season in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3. This event marks their last opportunity to refine their strategies before the highly anticipated 24 Hours of Le Mans. Both teams have already demonstrated their competitiveness, securing podium finishes and ranking in the top five of the LMGT3 championship standings.
HoR has been a standout this season, with team principal and driver Ian James delivering consistent performances. He will be joined by Daniel Mancinelli and Alex Riberas for the upcoming race at Spa. On the other hand, D’station Racing has also shown impressive form, achieving third-place finishes in both Qatar and Imola. The team has made a strategic decision, with Aston Martin works driver Marco Sørensen focusing on the WEC program over his commitments in the Japanese Super GT to enhance their championship prospects.
In addition to their WEC campaign, HoR will compete in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship at Laguna Seca, fielding entries in both the GTD Pro and GTD class with the Vantage GT3s. The Vantage GT3 has proven its mettle across various championships globally, including a recent third-place finish in the LMGT3 class at Paul Ricard by partner team Racing Spirit of Léman.
Since its debut at Silverstone, the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 has been embraced by over 10 significant GT series around the world, including WEC, IMSA, and the Fanatec GT World Challenge. Aston Martin anticipates the number of GT3 competitors to reach at least 35 by season's end. The Vantage GT3 and GT4 models boast a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine and are built on Aston Martin's bonded aluminum chassis, featuring advanced aerodynamics, suspension, and electronics.
Adam Carter, Aston Martin's Head of Endurance Motorsport, expressed satisfaction with the car's performance and is looking forward to the upcoming 24-hour races, including Le Mans. The 6 Hours of Spa is scheduled for May 11, while the IMSA event at Laguna Seca will commence on May 10. Fans are encouraged to follow these events through official series websites and apps.
