Aston Martin Vanquish Debuts In Venice: The Dawn Of Next-Gen Luxury Sports Cars

Aston Martin recently introduced its new V12 flagship sports car, the Vanquish, during a grand event at the Venice International Film Festival. The reveal took place on the Venetian Lagoon, drawing an audience from cinema, arts, fashion, and business. This event marked a significant moment for Aston Martin as it showcased its latest addition to the next-generation sports car lineup.

The evening began with a cocktail reception along the canal, where guests enjoyed traditional Venetian Bellinis and famous film scores. Following this, attendees were treated to a three-course meal by Dolada restaurant, known for holding Italy's longest-standing Michelin Star. Chef Riccardo De Prà sourced the cuisine responsibly from areas near his Pieve d'Alpago restaurant.

The premiere attracted notable figures from various fields. Five Academy Award-winning actors attended, including George Clooney and his wife Amal, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Douglas, Kevin Costner, and Adrien Brody. Other celebrities included Daniel Craig, Joe Alwyn, Micheal Ward, Joel Edgerton, Haley Bennett, Cailee Spaeny, and director Joe Wright. Fashion was represented by Sandy Powell and models Bianca Brandolini and Poppy Delevingne.

The Arsenale di Venezia served as a fitting venue for the event. With its history dating back to 1104, it symbolises hand manufacturing excellence and cultural heritage. The Arsenale was once a hub of shipbuilding innovation during the Middle Ages and now hosts events like the Venice Biennale international art exhibition.

The Vanquish completes Aston Martin's portfolio of front-engine sports cars. It follows the DB12 launch in May 2023 and the Vantage debut in February 2024. Revealed by Formula One® Team drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso after the Italian Grand Prix, this launch strengthens Aston Martin's connection between road and track.

Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin, stated: "The arrival of Vanquish is a seminal moment for Aston Martin, completing the newest and strongest portfolio in our segment and reinforcing our ultra-luxury positioning." He added that Vanquish embodies their commitment to luxury and performance for a new generation of drivers.

Vanquish will be Aston Martin’s highest performance sports car in its core lineup. Production will be limited to no more than 1,000 units per year. This model features a bespoke 12-cylinder engine developed by Aston Martin. Revived since 2018, this is the third generation to bear the Vanquish nameplate.

A Storied Legacy

The original V12 Vanquish launched in 2001 has appeared in several films like "Die Another Day" driven by James Bond and other movies such as "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and "The Italian Job." Now it returns to prominence with this latest iteration.
