Amitabh Bachchan's Passion For Luxury Cars: The Defender 130
Amitabh Bachchan, one of Bollywood's biggest stars, owns a collection of luxurious cars and SUVs. Last year, he added a Land Rover Defender 130 to his garage as a birthday gift to himself.
Recently, a video surfaced showing him driving this high-end SUV, which is priced in crores. The actor, seen donning a cap and driving the car solo, is currently preparing for his role in the Telugu sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD.
The video, shared by ShowshaIndia on YouTube, features the Sedona Red Defender 130 on a road trip. The short clip captures the car in motion, with Bachchan at the wheel.
At one point, he is seen braking and steering the SUV to the left shoulder of the road.The intention behind this action remains unclear, leaving viewers to speculate whether he was looking for a parking spot or waiting to pick someone up.
The Land Rover Defender 130 is the longest variant in the Defender lineup, surpassing the 110 model by 340mm, though both share the same wheelbase. This variant includes three-row seating, unlike the 90 and 110 versions that only offer two-row seating. The Defender 110 is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
In addition to the Defender 130, Big B has also recently acquired a top-tier Range Rover. The petrol variant of the Defender 110 uses a 3.0-litre engine that produces 394 Bhp and 550 Nm of torque.
The diesel version features a 3.0-litre turbocharged engine, generating 296 Bhp and 600 Nm of torque. Both engines come equipped with mild-hybrid technology and are paired with an automatic transmission, powering all four wheels.
Many celebrities, both in India and abroad, favour the Land Rover Defender for its rich history and reputation for off-road capabilities.
Although earlier models were rugged and lacked modern comforts, the latest generation combines luxury interiors and advanced features with robust off-road performance, making it a preferred choice among high-profile individuals. The Defender's imposing road presence adds to its appeal.
While numerous Bollywood stars have opted for the Defender 110, Amitabh Bachchan appears to be the only one in the industry with a Defender 130. The starting price for a Defender 130 is Rs 1.39 crore, ex-showroom, and can go up to Rs 1.46 crore, ex-showroom.
